Simultaneous 4th Axis..
« on: January 19, 2010, 10:19:18 AM »
What is the CAM software being used with Mach3 for simultaneous 4 axis machining? Or the most popular CAM software being used...?

Thanks,

Suppose it will depend on what your going to be doing with a 4th axis, heard mention of people using wrapper or something like that to convert Y moves to rotational axis moves but afraid thats about all I know. If you are talking routing then probably Vetric has some stuff to look at but if you are talking 4 axis milling then probably its the high end CAM stuff you will need and that wont be cheap :(

Bobcad V23 will wrap around the 4th axis. Insteady of posting out x or y axes the a axis can be posted with simulanious movements. You can also output all 4 axes if you just want to index with the 4th. I have inlayed 4 points into a cue that wrap around the front 360 degrees.

I did a search on this site and found some interesting data on this 4th axis. I also found a link to some software that was offered by Rich. I should have bookmarked it but something took all of my attention recently: my brand new granddaughter!

Rich, please give me the link....

Yep!  That's what I was thinking about! Thanks very much Gerry!

RICH, I know what you're talking about....I have one of those mystical 'other half' beings too. She IS for sale but probably priced much, much too high.  8)

Thanks again,

Vecric have just added 4th axis support to V Carve pro and Aspire, you design/import the artwork and then use some wizards to wrap it onto a rotary axis.
Not used it yet though many seem to have, have a look on the vectric forum at the bottom
