Mach3 Lathe
« on: December 20, 2009, 09:24:27 PM »
I have a Taig mill, that I run with Mach3, and it is set up so I can take light cuts to make a deep cut. Adding a small CNC lathe to my tooling, and will need to take light cuts to get to finished diameter. Tried the Wizards, and they do it by setting the "X" value. Is there a way to do it in Mach3 lathe?

Do you want to turn the diameter down on a lathe? If so, that is no problem and you can take as many light cuts as you wish.  You can do it manualy using the MDI line or use one of the lathe wizards to generate the gcode to turn the piece down.
Maybe I don't understand you post.......

Yes, I want to turn a diameter on the lathe, taking about .005" per pass, till I get to the target size. With the mill, some parts take an hour or more to cut, but it keeps cutting till it runs out of steps. Would like the use a Wizzard, it can be set up to take light passes, but how did I get the Wizard to cut the part, I draw?

Determined you can do what I want to do with BobCad, to take light cuts with the lathe, use to doing it in Mach3, on the mill, just take more steps, in BobCad.
Thanks
