How to notify Mach of E-stop ?
« on: August 17, 2008, 06:56:26 AM »
Hello All,

I'm new to this forum, but I have been using Mach2 professionally for several years now.

Recently, I've installed a galil DMC1832 and breakout module on my cnc (bridge type mill with AC servos).
I've upgraded to Mach3 (latest version) and installed the plugin, and most things seem to work fine. :D

However, there are two important things that I can't get working  :

First: Homing.
When I home the axes, even when I home them individually, sometimes the axis does not back up after tripping the home switch.
It just stays there, and it is not possible to jog or do anything else.  ???
I have to retart Mach to be able to jog off the switch, and try homing again.

Second: I have connected the emergency stop button to the abort input on the Galil. (I inverted the input first)
When the Abort input is tripped, Galil stops all motion immediately, but Mach is not aware of this!  :(
So the question is: How can you notify Mach that the emergency stop has been tripped?
Or more generally: how can the Galil communicate with Mach?

Thanks for all help!

I also noticed that I can't get any inputs (input 1 to 8 ) from the galil working.
I have enabled them in Mach (ports and pins), and I can see them working in Smartterminal, but not in Mach  ???
I suppose this is related to the problem that I can't get the E-stop to be noticed by Mach either...
Any ideas ?

THIS is exactly the problem I am having!

pleijnen, what was your solution?

I have combed webspace and can not find the answer.

Do I have to install a parallel port?  Can I install a parallel port?  Will Mach3 accept both the Galil 1842 and parallel ports together?

Surely someone is running an ESTOP somehow with an Galil1842?

probably best to ask this in the Galil part of the forum.
