« on: November 21, 2009, 04:33:15 PM »
help!I want to control two small steppers directly from the breakout board without drivers for a micro lathe project, i have been told i need to check the Max NC-10 wave driver in the ports and pins config screen. i cannot find any literature on this function, please could someone give me some info?

Hi David,

You do need drivers for your stepper motors.

David,
Do a search, as there are few threads in here which discuss use of the Max nc-10 driver.
I know nothing about it.

thanks guys, i googled max nc and found it to be a machine manufacturer, from what i can make from the threads in here the wave driver must be some kind of auto configure for their kit. to be honest i was sceptical about it working as even if mach3 could alternate pulses to two diferent pins, it could not reverse polarity so the motor would only ever run in one direction. i had seen a breakout board advertised which could directly control steppers up to 700mA at 5V without drivers using the wave driver config, this would have been perfect for what i need but as the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

If the bob can supply the current then I think it could be possible. The ftp site has pinouts for the MaxNC stuff, you will find it here
ftp://anonymous@machsupport.com/ExtraInformation/MaxNCCL.txt

and the other variant here

ftp://anonymous@machsupport.com/ExtraInformation/MaxNCT2CL.txt

Hi, David

When you select Max NC Wave in Mach, Pin's 2-5 "Z", 6-9 "X", 1,14,16,17 "Y" are auto selected.

Read through this Post it should help. http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,9816.0.html
