« on: October 10, 2009, 02:04:47 PM »
Hello,
I am building a cnc router and I am having trouble with Calculating Mechanical Drive my math is very poor if there is any one who could help me i would appreciate it. I have a rack with a pinion gear PD of 1.667 and This gear has a 60 tooth pulley on it and the motor had a 10 tooth on it. I have micro stepper motor drives So any suggestion on what to set the micro steps at would help. If there is any other information you need please let me know.
Thanks for the help,
Jeff

1.667 x 3.14159 = 5.23703 / 6  = .872838     Linear distance per motor revolution
200 step motor x 10 microstep (or whatever it is) = 2000 step per rev.
2000 / .872838 = 229.13759 steps per unit........or there abouts.
I think  ::)

What are your available microsteps ?
Some are 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and some are 10......plus others.
