Go To Z and hitting limit switch
« on: September 07, 2009, 03:43:59 PM »
Hello,

Previously, I was able to zero the X,Y, and Z axis to a certain work coordinate, then move the jog the axis anywhere on the table. When I used the go to z button, the machine would jog back to my zero coordinates previously set.

For some reason, when I use the GotoZ button the machine starts to move back to zero coordinates driving the Z axis first. Unfortunately, I cannot get past the Z axis as clicking on GotoZ button jogs the Z axis up and then stops when it hits my limit switch.

My soft limits are on and work great, if I manually jog the Z axis upward toward the limit switch, the machine does it's job by slowing down the upward motion when approaching the limit switch. It is just when I use the GotoZ that the machine jogs upward to start the move and then stops when encountering the limit.

I had a PC crash and reloaded Mach3 to a new PC and transfered my settings to this new install. Everything works as before except for this problem I am running into.

Any help one may give would be greatly appreciated.

Check your safe Z settings.
