I remember reading about a similar problem which was traced to a document resident in the print que. If you are not going to use a printer with this computer then uninstalling the printer and it's driver may be helpful.

I know it's an old thread but it summarizes my existing problem nicely. Windows XP on an older machine off network, no printers, nothing installed but MACH3, f-engrave, and lazycam. I get random freeze-ups. I cut 3 reindeer cutouts with the same code and it froze on the 4th mid cut. I was doing an engraving into the back of plexiglass, 2 done, froze on the 3rd, 4th and 5th fine. It makes no sense.

Any ideas?

Is it just Mach that freezes or the whole computer?
If you attach your xml I will look through your config to see if there are possible issues with it.

Whole computer. Is this the file you are referring to?

What does the Time in Int and Frequency read on Diagnostics page?

Time in Int oscillates around +5.0, between +4.8 and +5.2. WHen operating (axis moving) it is between +11.5 and +12. Hard to see it moves quickly.
Frequency is 46056.

just curious. what was/is your kernel speed?

I tried various kernel speeds and it seems to happen on any, including the slowest.

I think it is PC/Windows related and not Mach 3 related. AFter the last CNC session I left the PC running for 2 days unattended. It was frozen when I returned. I have been avoiding the Windows update process because I wanted an offline uncluttered Windows install with no updates or add-ins. I assumed the most stable version was the one right out of the box. I guess I can try updated to see if it stabilizes the system.

Otherwise I'm pretty well screwed. This is the last of my old PCs. All I have left for options is a Windows 7 machine with no parallel port. I'm a hobby CNC guy that spent a grand total of about $350 to get the machine up and running.

I have gotten much better at re-zeroing the machine and starting the G-code mid run. But what a pain.

I thank everyone for their help. As of now I still have the same issue though.
