LazyCam - Offset not Round and round
« on: May 12, 2009, 04:45:04 AM »
Hi everybody,

I am trying to cut something from a wood.

I don't wish cutter goes round and round, because it can damage the part I am cutting at the end, as the part falls down. So I draw lines which are not connected at the end.

If I import into LazyCam a DXF file where lines are not connected, LazyCam makes offsets a very strange way - some outside and some inside wanted object.

How to solve this problem?

best

Hi,
You should probably use TABS instead. They are small connecting tabs that hold your part steady at the last cut.
You can make them as wide and thick as you want and place them at any frequency around the part.
Play with it a bit.......maybe you could post your DXF and someone can give you an example.

Hi,

as I watch G-code this looks to be the right thing, thanks!

Just one more question: Is there any way to see this tabs in Lazycam? It doesn't even remember, weather I already defined a tab for this chain or not?!

You can click and hold down the mouse wheel and pan the part in an isometric type view which will let you see the tabs you've created.
