THC300 postprocessor mistake???
« on: April 18, 2009, 12:01:01 PM »
Hi all,
I knew it's weekend, but I need urgent help.
I have set my plasma machine Z axis as follows:
Z limit switch is on the top. Soft Max limit is 0, and soft min limit is -100, Home neg. checked.
Safe Z is 50 in machine coordinates.
When I start Homing, Z axis goes up to the switch, then down and stops to the limit sw off. Soft limits button works.
But when i start cutting process, Z axis goes up, touch the limit switch and Mach3 resets!
It stops at line N0110, (see below) and It reports Limit sw error.
In SheetCam I use Plasma THC300-G31-Corner slow down. post
I'm confused about how to solve this problem, what is configured wrong, or why post processor generates N0110 line. Is it possible SheetCam knows about Z safe coordinate?

Miroslav

Safe Z should be -50 if you have it set in machine Coords.

Hi Hood,
Yes, I can set Safe z to -50 in Mach3, but as you can see, line N0110 generated by SheetCam says +50. I think the problem is generated in SheetCam. I'm stil confused how to configure Homing and soft limits.

I'm a totally newbe here.

If you cant configure sheet cam to put out negative Z-values you probably must invert your Z scale in mach3.

Do Sheet Cam put out a larger positive Z-value as the plasma nozzle is supposed to be lowered?

Certainly looks like sheetcam is upside down like Steiner says, eiither invert the Z or see if you can alter the Post Processor to make either the Z moves negative ones or  you could make the post be g54 and have the torch zeroed  on the material surface for the G54.
Dont know how your machine works, in fact I dont even know how normal plasmas work.

Hi Hood,
Should I use Floating head switch as home switch?
It is connected now at Probe input pin. Should I set the same input pin as Home switch pin?

Possibly, I dont really know how a plasma is normally set up so not really sure what to advise.
