Jerky motor rotation HELP
« on: February 13, 2009, 11:07:39 PM »
I am useing the FET-3 System from Stepper World, The software that comes with it (VB STEPPER) runs the motors nice and smooth all the way up to the programs top speed, as well as slow (Smooth at any speed). Now I use MACH 3 and no matter what I do I can only get semi smooth results at one speed, about 3/4 of the top speed in VB Stepper very slow, slow, med, fast   Everything is jumpy   Even seems like its skipping steps, at all speeds.

Thanks for any responce

Try setting the pulse width in motor tuning to 6 or if that doesnt work on ports and pins main page choose Sherline mode.

Have a read of the manual as it will explain how things are set up but basically you need to find out which pins of the parallel port your drives step and direction signals are connected to and set that up in Mach3 Ports and Pins, Motor OutPuts. You will then need to calculate the steps per unit and then set a Velocity and Accel. There are also videos available for download which should help.
