Installation path & hardware problem
« on: January 14, 2009, 09:30:03 PM »
Hello,

I've read a recommendation to install MACH3 to the path C:\MACH3. Now, following the installation wizard I'm presented the inputfield for the installation path. I would like to know the technical reasons for a precondition, if it is meant so. Installation in an other drive would not make a longer pathname, if length is the reason.
Another question:
Is it possible to damage in course of time the parallel port or more components of a pc by involving in cnc so that it resets spontaneously?
Regards

I think a lot of people choose a different location for the install and dont have problems.
Dont think you should have any problems with the PP and CNC, my mill was running almost daily for about 2 years with no issues but I now use a SmoothStepper so for the last year its been running USB.
