Switching Axis
« on: January 13, 2009, 01:41:05 AM »
Is there a simple way to change the axis and cutting view in Mach3?

The directions do not match the actual machine directions and I would prefer  changing the screen rather than switching driver connections...
Thanks in advance...

In which respect are you meaning that the view doesnt match the machine? If you are meaning the X moves the wrong way on your machineĀ  then config menu then Homing and limits page will let you reverse the axis. The toolpath views on the screen are normal convention, X+ to the right and Y+ to the top for the mill/plasma etc and Z+ to right and Xzero to centre for Lathe.

Any time I've seen this question asked, it's turned out that the machine was set up incorrectly and actually moving in the wrong direction. Is X+ to the right and U+ up? Or are you using a non standard configuration?

Here's the scenario. I have my screen computer monitor positioned along side the longer (x) axis, so when I look at the monitor and over to the machine, it is the same direction.  On my monitor, however, the X axis is showing horizontal.  I just thought it would be nice to have the view on the monitor match the view when looking at the machine (vertical X axis)... no big deal, just thought it would be nice...  I can understand the reasoning for the standard view.
