Hey everyone,
I am a complete noob regarding CNC machining. I have some experience with setting up and running 3d printers.
I've been rebuilding an old Bridgeport interact 1 mk2 for a while now.
I've added mach4 with ethercat through kingstar.
So far I've added all the mechanical things like 750w leadshine servo's and a CTB spindle motor also with ethercat.
I'm currently adding things like 3d touch probing and tool offset probing.
Now I feel like I'm getting close to actually running some stuff I have some questions regarding the macros setup, which I haven't been able to find so far. However I might just be looking in the wrong place.
I noticed there is a probe tab in mach4. I suspect I'm just going to use this to find the edges of the part I'm machining with the 3d toucher. That seems straight forward.
However I was wondering how we deal with the tool offset toucher. Currently I only have 2 tool holders so I'll be changing out tools frequently most likely. How can I make sure I can probe the new tool with every tool change so it runs accordingly in the program. I'm suspecting some kind of macro needs to be created for this, or is this something that is present in mach4 by default?
Another question I have is regarding the knee on my machine. In 3d printer it's rather easy to set the machine to a certain position by just entering the position in a text field. Is there such a possibility in mach4 as well. Or is a custom setup required for this?
