Tool Changer Using Tormach Holders
« on: October 02, 2008, 11:07:34 PM »
Has anyone here made a toolchanger using Tormach tool holders?  I'm considering doing this for my BP clone knee mill, and wondering if there are any negatives, other than the cost of the many Tormach holders that would be required.

Ray, have a look in the "Benchtop Mill" forum on the CNC Zone forum. There's a fella named "Hoss" that has built an auto toolchanger which I believe uses these exact toolholders. He's actually building a rotary toolchanger right now so you may want to have a look there.

Just look for something like "Hoss' ATC project" or something like that. It's a good lengthy read but a lot of great info there.

Budman,

Thanks!  I saw that some time ago, but forgot he had used Tormach knock-off toolholders.  Seems to me a nice way to go.  Really simplifies some things.
