MachPro Demo
« on: January 27, 2026, 05:37:05 AM »
Good Morning,
I am playing around with the MachPro Demo and I have to ask. Is there a designer out there who understands color and contrast? Why, oh WHY, does anyone think that greys on greys on off black makes for a readable screen? Off white(grey) text on a grey/black background just washes out for me and is difficult to work with in varying lighting conditions. The black text on a shaded grey blue background isn't much better. Just because it looks cool on a website or a word document doesn't make it correct for a machine control. Neither does the fact that some other machine controller does it this way.
Is it just because Microsoft started it?
Hopefully there will be some other, more useable screens in the future.

Step one, give up on Dark mode already. My shop is properly illuminated and dark mode is useless.

I will now get off of my soapbox and get some coffee.

We never have the time or money to do it right the first time, but we somehow manage to do it twice and then spend the money to get it right.

Thankyou for your feedback.

Just as a tidbit of what the future will look like:
Currently MachPro is using wxLua for its interface, which is heavily influenced by Windows themes and Windows OS styling.
In the future, we plan to change what is used for the GUI to make styling and support better long run.
Thanks,

Paul

Just my two cents if this topic influences future designs: I hear your complaint, and I too look forward to easily changing the color schemes. But a few years ago I suffered a stroke (I'm only 41 now) and since then the intense white of many programs makes it hard on my eyes. For my eyes the current screen design is extremely easy to use and read. I've already spent hours looking at the screen and my eyes are happy.

P.S. Sorry for the necro-post
