Port assigning for Mach3
« on: February 20, 2007, 07:34:28 PM »
Hey guys and gals, first time user of this forum so be gentle. Ive used mach3 with great success and the other day had a power surge which has burnt out my parallel port. Ive installed a pci card with parallel port in it but it assigns itself to a non legacy port eg not 0378 or 0278 and it cant be manually changed its assigned itself to dcf8. Mach3 appears not to work with anything other than legacy ports is this correct can anyone help. The driver board ect still work we hooked up a mates computer and all is fine but I cannot get mine to work. Xp locks the bloody port to that address. We hooked up a printer and it worked fine so its just the mapping. Recommendations please
Steve

All you do is enter the dcf8 address for port1 on the main ports and pins page.

Yeh did that but it didnt work still. So I assumed mach3 wouldnt control using any other address other than the legacy ports, I was wrong just realised I hadnt set ports direction ect, so now all is good. Thanks
