What are you using the encoder for?

In most cases you need A and B to give you the count, the Z channel can be used with the homing but you also need a switch to say you are close to the home position and then use the Z channel to find the exact point.  So you need a motion card that can handle precise homing or 2 stage homing or slow down homing or what ever they call it on there system.

Mach4 General Discussion / m6 on newest version 5325 not working
« Last post by gorf23 on April 05, 2024, 01:49:22 PM »
I'm testing the new mach4 version 5325

I can get all mdi commands to run g31 g0 and all.

But a M6 T# doesn't seem to execute, i even created a M6 with only a messageBox() in it and that did not seem to run.
It also will not execute the M6 in a G code file when i try to run it, the g code will not run past the M6 line and the tool change led never lights up..
I notice the log file seems to be outputting a bunch of values in the that i have no meaning for maybe for mach4 testing values, but getting no errors  that i know of
I have ran the code in the lua script editor and it ran form there. also deleted the mcc files and let them be recompiled.

Any suggestion
Gary

General Mach Discussion / Re: Homing Issues

if you are using Mach4 you need to discuss with the mfg of the motion board.. Mach4 does not actually control the homing procedure the motion card does.  :o

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: No signal to laser pwm port

I tried another ESS and BOB and the results were the same, None of the output ports are showing a signal.
The SWM port ( port3 pin6 ) shows .02v, when test fire is selected the volts go down to -.060.

As of August last year on this forum people were recommending that this unit should not be used with Mach4.

General Mach Discussion / Control and change of XHX-USB-Motion card
« Last post by jacques_w on April 03, 2024, 05:00:59 AM »
My 6040z cnc is controlled by XHC-USB-card V2.59.6. (see picture). Question is: How can I change these settings, it seems that they are set in concrete. The output settings as well as input IO state must be empty according to the documentation. How do I change this. The Chinese manufacturer as well as the reseller of this 6040z is silent about how I should/can change this. Can someone gif me some solutions about this problem

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: No signal to laser pwm port

I'm sure this will be a easy fix and I am over seeing the issue.
My setup coinsist of Win 11, Mach4 4809 build, ESS 285 with laser screen installed I'm Using a MB3 BOB.
All other profiles work fine but I have been unable to get laser profile to test fire laser.
The ESS pin config. I have port3 pin 14 named as laser PWM, Port3 pin 16 named as Laser Gate,
In Outputs I have Laser PWM mapped to P3-14, and output#16 mapped P3-16. Laser tab the laser gate assigned to #16. Allow test fire is checked.
My first thought was a bad 24v ( LT-80W-AA-Pro ) Laser but after connecting the PWM to a 5v source on the MB3 the laser did come on.
Tested P3-14 with ohm meter and no volts while test firing in mach4. I tried changing the power in ESS laser tab from 15.1 to 75 % and still no voltage.
If anyone could offer suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked Mach4's port assignment, output mode, and test output function?

Hello Charlie, I did go into ESS Diagnostic and checked the output. When I test fire Laser, the Blue signal lights up indicating the signal is being sent.  ( It flashes on Port3 pin 6/8 )
The BOB does show a red LED for those ports also.
