General Mach Discussion / hooking up mach3
« on: August 24, 2011, 07:07:38 AM »
I have hooked up mach3 several tiems, but for some reason I am having difficulty this time.  I have pins 2 & 6 hooked to -step and -direction (in that order), and a return wire running from +step and +direction to pin 24. Should I set the configuration for high or low? Am I missing something?

Thanks,
-jim

General Mach Discussion / NEMA 23 and 34 motor mount G-code
« on: February 05, 2011, 07:05:55 PM »
Does anyone have g-code for cutting NEMA 23 and NEMA34 motor mounts? This would cut a recessed circle and the four mounting holes.

thanks,

General Mach Discussion / home command gets interrupted
« on: January 21, 2011, 07:49:35 PM »
Hi Folks,
I have wired my home switchs and did not use a shielded, grounded cable as suggested. I used just single wires and they are intertwined with the motor wires in several places. When I press the "ref home" switch it takes several tries to get my mill table to the home position. The motors stop and I have to keep hitting the button.

My question: does this sound like interference on the home switches? I'm hoping it does and that my "lazy" wiring is the cause of that. Also were would you suggest I ground the shield?

Thanks,
-jim

General Mach Discussion / Visual screen reads backwards
« on: January 18, 2011, 11:20:49 PM »
I am setting up my mill with Mach3. I've got evrything working, but the screen display reads opposite of what is actually happening on my mill table. Is there a way to invert? the data so that when I move left, the screen display will do the same?

« on: January 10, 2011, 06:00:33 PM »
I need help calibrating my machine. What method is used to determine steps required to travel 1 inch?

2nd question is how to increase the speed the table moves at when instructed to "go home"?

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 runs on desktop, not laptop
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:01:02 AM »
Dear group,

I have Mach3 running on my desktop. Everything works OK. Then, I move the DB25 connector to my laptop output, and it doesn't move the motors. The Pins and Ports are OK. And this WAS working on my laptop up until recently. What can I check to see that the signals are getting to the DB connector?

Thanks,
-jim
