Mach3 and G-Rex / grex ? small rapid oscillations on axis
« on: March 09, 2008, 06:36:37 PM »
I know I have seen this a bit on other posts,so sorry for bringing this up again,
The problem I have is that grex is giving the stepper drives and then inturn the stepper motors IE,abnormal, inconsistent erratic
pulse and direction signals ,with mach 3 at idle,as I see by faint flickering pulse and direction Leds
on the grex when this happens.
I am using a relatively new laptop with bare bones operating system and figure it cant be the laptop as I disconnect the
ethernet cable when the problem starts and  the problem continues!!!!

I have isolated the grex from power wires, control box etc and still problems.
It happens on one axis then you cant jog the axis and then starts on another
So to start with does anyone have any ideas I could try. I am open to anything (like a 20Ib hammer)!

I did a fresh install of xp/mach3 using both licenced versions mach and G100 plug in which are R3.037(mach) and V3.037(g100).

Any help suggestions would be great

Thanks Lee,
I installed mach 3 on another computer and disabled the g100 and the controller/pugin works fine now,
So no problems with the controller.

I will reinstall mach 3 and try again with my original computer with the G100, see how I go.

Thanks again, will let you know how it turns out.
Great little plugin.

Thanks Lee for your reply,
I am using the latest mach3 with windows xp.
I can jog the axis through the keyboard still ,but not with the xbox controller,
I dont have an xbox  ,just the controller so I dont know if all of it is working,
the buttons seem to work ok.

Will try and disable the g100  and see if that helps.
Thanks again

G`day Lee,

I am trying to do the same ,IE control the axis with the xbox 360 controller
and not achieving much.
I have installed your plugin ,configured the controller
and all the buttons seem to work ,however I can`t  seem to jog the Axis.

From your pdf doc,........... "The ThumbPad (next to the
left Thumbstick) is Incremental jog for the left Thumbstick"

When this Thumbpad is used ,only y axis moves and then cannot be stopped.

Is there something I am missing?
Also I am using G100 (grex) would this be a problem.
any help you can throw this way ,would be good, thanks.

Thanks Brett,
I have tryed posting the user manual, but it would not upload
The one I sent last post was the quick start guide.

From the manual all it says on parameter 50 is

PR.50
Potentiometer Frequency Gain............ Factory setting 100.0
Setting 0.10 to 200.0% .....................Unit 1%

This parameter sets the ratio of analog input Vs Frequency output

Which sounds like what I am after, would I set it to 200% ? then.
ie 5volts = to 10 volts input.

Thanks

Thanks for the feed back,

Before I buy anything else for this setup I wanted to be sure
that there wasnt any other way, something I missed.

I have attached the manual for the VFD,
If anyone can see whether I can do it or not ,I would
be greatful if someone could let me know.

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry I am unsure if the VFD has or can  scale parameters,
How would I tell, would the manual say this.

Mach3 and G-Rex / G100 and VFD`s
« on: January 29, 2008, 02:26:55 AM »
Hi all,

I am trying to control HSD (cnc Router) spindle speed with the G-100,through a VFD and not sure
if I can.
The VFD manuals states it can be controlled 4 ways
1. By the digital Keypad (on the vfd)
2. 0 -10 volts input.....        I understand the G-100 outputs at only 5v ,Analog.
3. 4 -20mA input......
4. RS-485 comm port
5. Potentiometer on the keypad (on the vfd)

Any help or info would be great.
