Galil / Re: Edit Galil Plugin
« on: November 14, 2010, 08:14:25 AM »
Hans,
The trouble is with the early series Galil cards. They don't support the data record that the later controllers use to communicate with the plugin. There are lots of inexpensive Galil boards available on EBay and elsewhere that are supported by the plugin. You would be much better off getting one of them.

Galil / Re: Ganrty setup in Mach3

Jay,

When using servo reverse, you may need to swap the encoder direction to sync things. If using a 5 wire encoder, swap the A & B leads, If using a complementary output encoder, swap the A+ & A- leads.

I'd like to try that, but, if you have a contact at C&CNC, and he would e-mail me at the address in the PDF manual for the Galilplugin, I am willing to try and make it work properly. I don't know anything about their torch height control, but am willing to learn, if they are willing to help me.

Thanks,
Kenny

Your 1866 Galil will work fine with Mach3. Download the Galill plugin from the Mach web site and also get the Galil.PDF file to show you how to configure everything.

I have not had troubles leaving the driver on the machine. You select the driver for the Galil and I believe that Mach then ignores the PPort driver.

Galil / Re: mpg rate selection
« on: September 07, 2010, 09:57:52 PM »
Steve,
The rate is set in config>general config and can be changed at your whim. I have found that jog rate of .025" is about the maximum needed and .001" is good for general use. The rates are selected from the tabout screen when in MPG mode and jog is enables. A brain file can also be written to select both the axis and also the rate.
When properly set up the rate is exactly the setup rate.
Cheers,
Kenny

Claus,
The digital inputs can be mapped to Mach using the format spelled out in the PDF file. In some cases you'll need to write a brain file to utilize the logic in Mach. Poppabear has an excellent document on brain files. You can find it in the user docs section of this forum.

Claus,
Please refer to the PDF for the Galil plugin that is available on the plugin downloads page. We use a special method of implementing MPG for Galil and it is described in that document.
