Galil / Re: 100 pin connector
« on: August 25, 2011, 01:35:52 PM »
That was a chase that didn't pan out. There was confusion between the SCSI-2 and MDB connectors. They use the same shell, but a different contact arrangement. Also the 100 pin connector is an IDC type only. It is best to buy the cables from Galil for this purpose.

This has been seen before. I can't remember exactly what caused it, but it was somehow related to there being more than two axes enabled in either Mach3 or the plugin, or both. Please make sure that axes other than x and y are  disabled and let me know what happens in the debug file.

Galil / Re: VFD Spindle control 0 to 10V (not -10 to +10V)

Dr. Mark. I would advise against the step direction using the Galil as I don't think that it is provided for yet. If you use output 3 for forward and output 4 for reverse, You would simply turn output 3 on with the M3 macro and turn both output 3 & 4 off with the M5 macro. Likewise set the m4 macro to turn output 4 on to reverse your drive.

Mark, I know that I have been working on this for a long time, but you've jumped us by 18.100 years! I can send you a copy of the new plugin as soon as I get back to my shop. Steve and Brian have been updating Mach and there will be changes needed to the plugin so I have been holding off of the later releases.
The one that I will send has the checkbox for 0-10 volt, but will need some changes made to the M3, M4 and M5 macros in order to set up any needed outputs to control direction. I can help out with those.
Cheers,
Kenny

Swap,
The standard plugin duesn't support the 1425. Smurph and I made a special version that does support the 1425, but it is not currently in the downloadable plugin. There are lots of other improvements awaiting the next release. Probably will happen later this summer.

Galil / Re: Lathe Threading

Hood,
Yes the spindle can be: servo, +/- 10v, or 0 - 10v, encoder or not, selectable on the axis config page of the plugin. For non servo spindle, there may be some alterations needed to the macros, but they will be documented in the plugin PDF manual.

Lathe threading is getting closer. I have it working offline using strictly Galil code. Now it needs to be integrated into the Galil plug in. I can't do this alone and need Smurph or Brian to free up some time to help me. Both are working straight out at the moment. We are planning to get together in a few weeks to try and get some of these things ironed out. Maybe it will be ready by the fall. There are several other goodies coming with the next release that will make use with a lathe much better.

I need it too, so there is some urgency to this.

Galil / Re: Galil encoder feedback

I believe that you want to scale the A axis in a manner similar to scaling the X thru Z axes. I tried this using the same method as I use for the 3 main axes, but couldn't get it to work. You may need to try using the motor tuning to scale the a axis for this purpose. It is not a part of the Galil plugin.
