Galil / Re: older isa bus galil with mach 3

battwell,
I have several machines running using Galil 1750 cards. You should have no problem if you set them up correctly. Make sure to setup interrupt 10 using the board jumpers and configure the Galil Smartterm driver correctly for that interrupt mode. You should then have good communications with Mach.

Velly,
I'm going to check whether it's a demo restriction. I will get back to you as soon as I can find out .

Velly,
Did you follow my instructions in the RIO PDF exactly? You need to enable the Modbus checks under ports & pins first, then do a restart of Mach, and then the Ethernet Modbus screen should become available. Continue to follow all the prompts in the PDF and the controller should work fine. Please let me know if you run into further trouble.

Alex,
Changing the motor type from servo to reversed servo (or vice cersa) in the motor type box for the servo axis on the axis setup page of the plugin should accomplish what you want.

You really need to switch. Mach handles both controllers well and has the features that you need to work with them. You shouldn't have any communication problems either. Mach and Galil just keep getting better!!

Just to be sure, are you slaving the RIO to the 2143? I don't, but instead have the RIO connected using the ethernet Modbus setup. If you are slaving directly to the 2143, you may be overtaxing the 2143's communications with Mach. I need to know more before commenting further.
Thanks,

Please have a look at Automation Directs DirectServo line. I know that they work very well with the Galil in Torque mode. Also Contact Smurph on this forum, as I believe that he is using the Mitsubishi motors along with the Galil controllers.

Consider using several Galil RIO controllers or an Automation Direct PLC with ethernet communications. Either will work with the Galil plugin.

John,
If the drives are setup in torque mode, with the analog voltage controlling the output torque, the loop is closed in the Galil only.

John,
iI looked at the Mitsubishi manual quickly, but didn't spot the analog inputs. I'll look again. The analog input if +/- 10VDC will definitely work with the Galil. You'll need to connect the encoder passthru leads to the Galil encoder connections too. Be sure to use the latest Galil Plugin. Good luck, please let me know how you make out?
