Galil / Re: Galil parameters thru Mach
« on: March 28, 2010, 01:28:02 PM »
Rob,
Tou can use the mynotifies in the plugin to set up the tunng parameters for the motors. I would be sure to wire the motors/encoders so that "MT" or "CE" settings won't need to be changed as well to reduce any chance of being in a runaway state during any resets that occurr. The plugin PDF manual shows how the notifies work.

Galil / Re: Printer port drivers and Galil Ethernet

It is not necessary to install printer port drivers when using the Galil Plugin or ethernet for the RIO.

General Mach Discussion / Re: resolver to digital
« on: March 18, 2010, 10:25:54 PM »
This is a somewhat confusing setup to be sure. With Galil, you need to have the position encoder connected to the main encoder input and the auxiliary or motor encoder connected to the auxiliary encoder input. You will then need to make sure that the Galil is permanently in DV mode. You can do this via a burned in program with #AUTO as the first line, or use the notify outputs in the Plugin to be sure that the Galil DL survives a reset. You will also need to redo the axis tuning as the encoder counts have likely changed with the dual loop setup. When all is set up properly, You will have a very smooth system with excellent positioning.

Galil / Re: Galil controller compatability (what works with the plugin)

Yes,
The plugin can handle extended I/O. Please see the Galil plugin PDF on the plug-ins download page for additional information.

Galil / Re: Minimum computer required to run Mach3 & 1750 ISA card?

Jim,
Use 25 khz and you should have no trouble. Be sure to follow the installation instructions in the Galil manual to configure the interrupt and base address of your Galil board. Also upgrade the firmware on the Galil board. I have setup several of these systems.

You can help us by giving details of what you want it to do and how you want it to work electrically. I know nothing about plasma cutting, but can make the plugin better with your help. Please e-mail me with some information so that I can get working on it. Thanks,
Kenny

Galil / Re: Galil DMC-2100 as Z axis only
« on: January 03, 2010, 01:44:07 PM »
Why not try using the Galil auxiliary encoder as a step/direction input which would get its input from the parallel port and have the running program to do some offsetting based on an analog input? You would need to make use of the auxiliary encoder input and gear the x axis to it.

Sorry,
You can't use the parallel port driver and the Galil plugin together. You CAN use the Galil in standalone mode with a program running on it and use the analog input to control the height and also use one of the inputs wired to a Mach output to enable THC. That would be my recommendation for your situation.

Galil / Re: Galil 2140 & Mach No DRO change

Eric,
Make sure that the axis mapping is setup in the plugin. Yoiu need to set it even if you do not want to re-map an axis. So set x axis to x, y to y etc. Also exit and restart Mach to get everything loaded properly. Then make sure that you are wired to the primary encoders for the axes when connecting to the ICM 2900. The encoders box should be unchecked. Please call or e-mail me if you still have trouble.

Jim,
Yes, the Galil can accept binary commands, but that is of no interest with Mach as the plugin handles all needed communication with the controller. The timing has been worked out so that you will not need to worry about the sending of commands to the Galil.

Kenny
