Hi All

I wanted to refine my servo tuning in Mach3. Sometimes I get servo errors. I have not found
any helpful information with internet searches regarding acceleration and velocity settings for
servos. My servos are dc brush 850 oz in motors from Dan Mauch at camtronics. The z and y
axes are geared down with timing pulleys in a 3 to 1.  I must admit I never got around to setting
up a reduction on the x axis. I just installed and have working the Ethernet smooth stepper. I`m
hoping this addition to the machine will improve the servo performance. The encoders are US Digital
250 line.

My current acceleration and velocity setting in Mach3
X axis accel:   24.0--vel: 125
Y axis accel:   20.0--vel: 100
Z axis accel:   8.95--vel: 84

That great. I changed the wires and I`m all set.

Hi
I checked it with a meter and I get 5vdc. Could I have the polarity reversed.
If so did I burn out the controller.  Facing the controller with the power connection
up I have the + on the left and - on the right. With the red probe on the + and the
black on the right I see 5vdc. I don`t see a minus sign so I assume the polarity is
correct.

SmoothStepper USB / Ethernet smooth stepper problems
« on: September 07, 2014, 07:05:06 AM »
Hi

I have a 5 vDC supplying the board. I assume I have the + and - DC voltage correct. At this time I do Not see any LED so I`m not certain the board has power. I did the network adapter configuration but since I`m getting no feed back I have no idea what is wrong. I setup mach3 with the plugin. During Mach3 setup I get this error: The wakeup client board does not rely. Also, even after setting up the network adapter the connection shows a red X. No idea where to start the troubleshooting process.

General Mach Discussion / servo hot to the touch
« on: September 01, 2014, 04:51:38 PM »
Hi Group
Today I was doing some 3d cutting.I was only 30 minutes into the cutting and my Y axis servo motor was too hot to the touch. The z andy axis are doing the most work in the cutting I`m doing. I checked the other axes and the z and x arenot even warm. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this problem. It seems when I restarted I had lost my position. I ran the Y axis by turning the ball screw and it does not seem like the axis is binding.
I was running the machine at 1800 mm per minute. I have in the past, run the cnc at 1800mm perminute without problems.

General Mach Discussion / Fusion 360 and Mach 3 post error
« on: August 01, 2014, 11:41:01 PM »
Hi
I just generated my first code in Fusion 360. When I attempt to run the code I get this
error : Current point same as end point of arcLine 21. I was changing setting in the general
config section. I changed the Distance Mode and IJ mode hoping that a change would help
my error. Now I have no idea what those setting should be.
Need some help this is a bit over my head.

Hi
It was my parallel port. I have a second parallel port on the motherboard. But its never
been attached to a parallel port card. So I was using the wrong address. The first time
months ago when it was configured correctly. I didn`t make a backup of the xlm files.
When I ran into problems after changing setting I reverted to a older backup of the xlm.
Of course then I was using the incorrect port address.

Here is something of interest for troubleshooting:

Anytime I change to a different PC my biggest problem is setting up my parallel port. Just found this software
and tried it. Just create a directory in windows / program directory. Make certain the dll is placed in the same
directory as the drivertest.exe. I used windows 7 and it worked great

More Information: Just checked my sound logic board and the x axis led is not on.
That was the limit that the wires fell off. Is this a sign that the photointerruptor is
mis -wired
