LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Tool offset problems
« on: March 01, 2007, 04:42:46 PM »
I don't understand.  It's not working here.  See attached files.
First file is a work doc with screen shots.
First screen Lcam.  Shows layer selected, and tool called out,
Second show posting options - not plasma, use g41/42 checked.
third is Mach 3 screen - shows file name, shows that tools data is there BUT
no tool changes, no G41/42, no peck drill cycle on the holes.

Second file is the output Gcode file.

Sorry guys i'me really feeling stupid at this point.
in general config options i tell it to stop at tool change.

New versoin defaults to plasma mode and cannot turn off.  No tool changes like this, so I cannot check the G41 G42 issue.

Same here,  cannot get out of Plasma mode, therefore no tool changes in code.

Brian I checked the posting options and yes it is checked.  I even unchecked and rechecked it to make sure.  Everyting seems ok except no g41 or 42.  Here is the Lcam project file and the Gcode file.

Also Art what does R represent in the G81 code.
I keep getting R < z in line 8

You guys are doing a great job it is fantastic to have such good support

Sorry I got kicked out on the first try.
This would not let me send an Lcam file.
YOu might want to change that.

I have an old problem that has come back.  Downloaded mach3 and Lcam today (sunday 2/18).
Ran an old part with minor charges and sent to G-code. LC did not put G41 or G42 into the G-code file.
Is calls for a tool change but did not add the offset Gcodes.  they should be in there no matter what.
Correct.

General Mach Discussion / Re: G81 Question
« on: December 30, 2006, 03:54:27 PM »
thanks that is the concept i was missing.
top of material is zero,
INTO material is negative,
ABOVE material is positive.

I had the last two reversed

Got it - now i understand why it's that way.
I was looking at it as debuggin on the m3 screen not in notepad.
thanks as always

General Mach Discussion / Re: G81 Question
« on: December 30, 2006, 12:21:52 PM »
Brian - still troubled.

assuming i set my (r) rapid position at 0.0  (mill head far up) and my drill depth (Z) at 5.0 inches (downward).
then R would be less than Z.

am i missing something here.  should down (into the material) be going negative. ???

on my mill (sherline) the head moves in z  not the knee (material).  am i looking at this wrong. ???

Feeling real stupid here.
