General Mach Discussion / install problems video and motors
« on: May 31, 2009, 01:38:44 PM »
Thes have problably be answer 50 times but i'm not doing the right search.
please point me to the right threads

I've installed Mach3 on a new machine and have some problems i don't understand.
New machine is my desk unit, not the CNC driver unit.

video - how do i get the screen to streach to my 22"monitor.

When i run a Gcode file the software skips all motor movement ast light speed.  The asix counters don't change and long movement happen in ms.
Yes i've set speeds.  IT does not seem ot incriment the motor counters,
Single step shows the dispaly next move, but no attempted  actual movement

LazyCam (Beta) / Lcam not re-importing drill holes from .tap file
« on: June 02, 2007, 11:38:27 AM »
Art there is still an issue with LC not doing a reverse import.
Problem is I have a part that i've done all the work on in lcam.  Including changing a lot of machine holes to a drill drill holes on a separate drill layer.  I next export it to Mach3 (.tap) and find some problem.  now comes the problem, when i bring the tap file ("Load Current mach file..")  back into LCAM it does not import the drill layer holes, completely missing.  So now i have to start over from scratch.  No i did not save the original file to "save lcam project".  don't need to do it very often and i always forget.

Am i doing somehting wrong or is there a bug.

Chip i did have the auto add in of leadins checked with .25 units (upto .500" end mill) but this problem appears to come in from a saved Lcam file not DXF or TAP.  I've been using that to save some work on the file already started.

Stil need to try it with a new incomming DXF file.  I'll get backwith you soon

Found another piece of the puzzle.
I wanted to save the original lcam file in case you guys wanted it so i saved lcam under new name. ( the original file is actually posted with a txt file extension a few posts up - if you change the extension back to Lcam - it's there).

Anyway shut down lcam and restarted, loaded the new file, clicked on the leadin and it collapsed to  none.  It appears that Lcam removes the leadins when a saved file is reloaded BUT still shows them on in the image.  I suspect the reload which is a problem similar to drilled holes being deleted when an active Mach 3 file is pulled back into Lcam.

hope this helps let me know what you find.

remember it's not debuggin anymore it's step wise refinement

one last suggeston to Art  can you make the mouse button sequence that zooms, moves and tilts the image the same ones as used in Mach 3 - some time confusiing.

thanks for a great product

Ok guys i've got some more information for you.

Chip contacted me yesterday to help me thorough the issue.  Work computer did not have lateste version so i downloaded v.53 chip had me check my leadins, changed nothing else posted code everything worked, posted with g-41/g42 correctly.
OK my thoughts they fixed a code problem all is ok.

#1 downloaded new .53 on home machine this morning and loaded the old saved Lcam file.
Everything looked good, leadins were set to circular and the same as the tool dia.
Posted g-code still no G41/G42.  =  leaving Lcam file open through all this.

#2 like yesterday i clicked on one of the leadins (viewed as circular) it colapsed to none (thought that was kinda wierd) but you may have coded it that way???.  reset the leadin to circular and equalt to tool dia (did not touch the other leadin).  Posted Gcode G42 was now included for that layer but not the other.

#3 went back to other leadin it alse viewed as circular and = to tool diam.  again clicked on leading it colapsed to none in view.  reset to previous posted code g42 now in both cuts.

#4 as test I went back to lcam and clikc on a leadin - this time it did NOT collapse.
Problem appears to be that leadins were actually turned off but still appeared to be on in the image.

I can send you the old lcams file if you wish to look at it.

been a wierd problem hoep this helps

Guys thanks for the updates.
It's now back to posting in Mill mode just fine.
Tool changs and drill modes are back.
Still not getting the G41/42 codes.

I suggest you add the ability to send you an Lcam file so you can work with exactly what I have.

Im sending you and Lcam renamed .txt.  Rename it back and see what you get. Also sending the output gcode file
