I like any of the remote controllers better.  Just easier to locate them as the Mach PC doesn't have to be as close to the machine.  The 20x0 USB controller works.  Kenny tested it.  I would get with the 20x0 because it comes standard with extended I/O if you wanted to make use of that.  PCI is going the way of ISA and pretty soon, the new motherboards won't even have a regular PCI slot.  My latest PC only has one PCI slot.  The rest are all PCI express.

But I'm with Kenny on the 21x3 series.  It's my favorite as well.  It's just a really nice package for doing what we want to do with them.

Version 4.3 of the Galil Plugin has been released.

Encoder based spindle control.
Custom Notify messages.  This allows sending Galil commands to the controller with the VB NotifyPlugins() function.
Fast feed rate override and feed hold.
Slave homing options.
User configurable Extended I/O (experimental).

In the Galil plgin config, enable the debug file output.  Then restart Mach.  Try homing and exit Mach.  Then send me the GalilDebug.txt in the Plugins directory.

As for the Mach Motor Tuning, I have no idea.  You might pose that question in the General forum.  What Mach version and host OS is it?

Are you using the Galil plugin or just trying to home the machine with the Galil commands?

What motor tuning dialog box are you trying to open?  Are you talking about the Galil software?

Galil / Re: Mach as motion control Galil RIO as I/O

Yes, it's possible.  The RIO will do TCP/IP MODBUS.  There is no special plugin for the RIO.

In the Plugin Configuration, do you have the auxiliary encoder checked?  e.g.  MPG1 = A and the aux check box.

Also, try running the plugin without the MPG configured.  Set MPG1, MPG2, and MPG3 to -1.  And uncheck any aux check boxes.  This should disable any MPG code and then we can see if you are still getting the "Galil error 46 Gear axis both Master and follower" error.

And while you are in the Plugin config, enable the debug output check box.  This creates a GalilDebug.txt file in the PlugIns directory.  Then restart Mach and try to connect.  If you get the error 46, exit mach and send me the GalilDebug.txt file at smurph@smcomp.com

Version 4.1 of the Galil Plugin has been released.

It corrects issues when running high encoder counts.  This one is capable of running 700 IPM with an encoder count as high as 32768.  It may go faster, but my motors are maxed out.

We will be working on threading and tapping now.  It will all be theoretical, as I don't have a machine that will do either.  But that is the next item on the list.
