Oh hell...  Too far for me then.  :(

Possibly.  But they should hod steady with SH.

The main thing is the Galil cannot hold them still if the encoders are not providing feedback.  So the encoders working properly is crucial!  And then the KP, KI, and KD Galil parameters need to be set as well.  The last I saw in your debug output was that they were set at stock values.

So are the encoders working?

Go into the terminal and issue this:

DPA=0
SHA

This will set the encoder count to 0 for the motor on the Galil X axis and then activate the servo loop for that axis as well.  What you should see is the encoder count at or near zero.  If it is some wild out there value, then you don't have the encoders hooked up right.

Where are you located?

Nope.  I see a date of 84.  That is pre-internet for sure!  I think they were bought out by Fincor.  So maybe some Fincor docs might be applicable.

And I have to say that some guys have taken Mach4GUI screen design to a level that I didn't even think possible!  There is no way could I have imagined what has already been done.  Simply amazing.

Could it be we are in a screen building renaissance?  :)

Sleep?  What's that?

If you are using a PCI card, I would try going back to the smart term drivers.  Also, since there are no encoders, you really do have to use the reference positions.

What kind of problems with the SmartTerm drivers?  What firmware does your Galil have?  It is possible it needs updating.  And it could have a special firmware on it from Cam Soft (just throwing that possibility out there as I have no idea if they used a special one or not).

Also, what model Galil do you have?

Well said Steve!

We do not control our own destiny with the parallel port.

I have already felt the sting of hardware obsolescence with the ISA Galils. I was NOT happy.

I'm not arguing with you Terry.  Just being realistic, honest, and frank.  You haven't even felt the pain yet.  But you will.  Get ready.  Its coming.  :(  Maybe we can prolong the inevitable one more time.  We shall see.

Your right if I do a
MDI: G1X1F10
it does move correctly
so it has to be in the jog routine.

I like the red DRO's  ;)

All things are possible in the screen designer.  You can make that happen in the PLC script!  Just look at the modes and see if G68 is in effect and turn the DROs any color you like.

Why do we need a PP option? That is what M3 was for. It is an outdated platform. It is time to move on. M4 will be fine.

Thanks for your support!  We hope Mach4 will be worth the wait.  And some of these guys are having a blast with it!  Which is really nice to see.

Now to the constructive stuff...

I think you will be fine with what you have below.  I run it on an atom D2700 board with a Galil 4080.  If you have problems, you can turn the refresh rates down a bit.  We have them pretty stoked as compared to Mach3.  You should be able to run @ 25ms refresh rate though.

Are there systems requirements? I'm looking at using an Asus Vivo PC VM40B computer to Mach 4 on my Bridgeport.
Specs:
Processor: 1.5GHz Intel Celeron 1007U
Cache:    L3: 2MB
Memory: 4GB    Type: DDR3 SDRAM
Graphics Card    Type: Integrated
Installed: Intel HD Graphics
Hard Drive: 500GB 7200rpm
Operating System: Windows 8 (64-bit)
Want to use Galil DMC 4080 motion control.
and PoKeys 57E connected to PoNET kbd48CNC
Still using AMC drives to Baldor servo motors.
Hoping Galil plugin for Mach4 will not take too long.
