General Mach Discussion / Does computer spec. affect output?
« on: December 04, 2009, 01:59:39 PM »
Hello,

I am running Mach3 on a computer that is, frankly, below spec.  My question is - does the spec. of the computer affect more than the speed - does it affect the quality off the router? I noticed a few tool marks on a some recent 3d output, and wonder if bringing the computer up to spec. would likely improve this?

Thanks in advance!

General Mach Discussion / Z-plate settings
« on: July 30, 2007, 05:36:34 PM »
Hello,

Whilst I'm waiting for a new update from my CNC supplier, we're currently running Mach3 Version 1.84.001

Can anyone tell me where I will find the setting for the thickness of the z-plate?  I understand on more recent versions, I can go to Operators- > Edit Button Scripts, but the version we're running doesn't have this. I'm assuming I'll need to edit a file, but which one?

Thanks in advance!

General Mach Discussion / Z axis zero
« on: November 28, 2006, 11:14:06 AM »
Hello,

Using Mach 3.

I'm sure it's something obvious but....

If we rout several copies of the same item, the zero axis does not appear to stay at the same reading between copies - is this correct behaviour?  It means we have to zero the Z axis for each copy (we have a zero plate on the router)

I'm a bit of a noob, so is this how it should be?

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm looking at Enroute - does anyone know if it comes with a suitable post processor for Mach3?

General Mach Discussion / Help a newbie!
« on: June 14, 2006, 04:03:02 PM »
Hello,

New user here so be gentle!

Are you suppose to re-zero the Z axis between toolpaths?  I created two toolpaths in V-Carve Wizard (excellent, by the way) for a sample cut - one an inside path and the other the outside (a letter 'O' in fact) both using the same tool.  Saved as two separate toolpaths.   Set up on the router and zero'd the Z axis to material. First cut (the inner) cut fine, but after finishing the Z zero was no longer where I set it - consequently the outside cut way too deep.

Am I doing something dumb here?  It's all new, so I wouldn't be surprised.  Does the machine not go back to zero when finished?

Any help/advice/pointers greatly appreciated.

Graham.

Edited to say: Originally, since the tool was the same, I tried saving both paths in V-Carve to one file, but it didn't seem to work. After posting this message I tried again, and, of course, it worked!

General Mach Discussion / Just setting up - newbie question
« on: June 04, 2006, 04:10:13 PM »
Greeting all!

Just getting to grips with Mach3.   Any idea what would be causing my PC to beep approx. every 3 seconds whilst running the program? I can't seem to find any reference to this, so don't know where to look.
