G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: DXF import into Lazycam

Biffo - You need to close the AutoCad DXF file before trying to import it.  LC does not give you any warning saying the file is being used by another program, but that is probably your problem.

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Reinstall of Mach3 stopping axis

Having the same problem (motors won't run) after upgrading to Version 3.042.017, but am running Windows XP.  Controller appears to be working normall, nothing has changed since last ran the mill.

Thanks for any assistance.

Brian,  (actually, this is the first part of my message - Had wrong file types and could not upload - Attached is the tap file)

Okay, you shamed me into it.  Will attach the code and (hopefull) screen shots from version 3.041 and 3.042.015 for your review.

Same code was used in both examples.  Native units were set to "Inches,"  Tools used were T30 - .020 engraving tip, and T14 - .125 center cutting end mill.

Note the program limits in 3.042.015 are X - 136.0905 and Y - 10.8570 - In version 3.041 the limits are X - 10.8942 and Y -5.2502.  The part was cut properly using version 3.041.  I was unable to cut it with version 3.042.015

Actually, I was afraid I was becoming a pest and had decided to leave well enough alone.  But, I really do appreciate your looking at the problem.

Brian, appreciate your interest.  I have already deleted the latest version of Mach and reverted to 3.041.  It works fine.  In the past, in order to stay current,  I have upgraded to the most recent issue of Mach.  Since I encountered problems with the last two upgrades, I think I will just sit back and wait for a final release of 3.42.

Thanks again for what you have developed and delivered so far.  Mach3 and LCAM are still my programs of choice for making new parts.

Bob @BobsShop - still cutting

Brian:

Just downloaded and ran 3.042.015 and have the same issue previously reported regarding 3.042.004 (see below).  The part was cut correctly, but looking at the weird numbers in the Tool: Table Display screen was really disconcerting.  Have gone back (again) to 3.041.

Previous post follows:

Downloaded and ran 3.042.004 version and had nothing but problems.  Code that ran perfectly in version 3.041 would not run without problems in arcs, etc.  One thing I noticed on the Diagnostics screen is the abs max x, y, z were all out of proportion to the drawing in the code in mill mode.   The figure in the code is 11.5 by 5.5 inches - the Diagnostics screen showed the max to be like 116 (somethings).  Yes, I copied my old xml file into Mach before running the code.  Yes, my native limits were in inches.   I had the same problem with another code.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Restore Desktop Icons
« on: September 21, 2008, 01:09:23 PM »
One last thought.  Do you know what was the last day that you had all your icons?  If so, you can do a System Restore (assuming you are using Windows) and all your icons will mysteriously reappear.  It is a little scary the first time you do it (sort of like kinky sex) but its only scary the first time (well, maybe the second and third also  ::) ).

Let me know if you want to go that way. (He said with a wink ;) )

Did not see the other suggestions before jumping back in.  Had taken a lunch break.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  Hope one or the other of our suggestions helps.

No, I don't create shortcuts from the Loader Icon.  Lets try another way.

Go to the c:\mach3 file and locate your mach3 application.  Like I said, you will have to click on "View" and then "Details" to find the Application type files.

Or, a really easy way to locate the Mach application file is to right click on the Loader Icon then left lick on Properties  section.  When the window opens click on the Shortcut tab and look at Target - that should tell you exactly where the Mach application is located.  Highlight the data in the Target box and copy it.

Then, right click on a blank spot on your desktop, go to NEW and choose Shortcut.  When it opens you can paste the path and file name you copied from the loader into the box and create a new shortcut for Mach3.

Unfortunately, since you don't have loaders for Turn or Plasma, if you want those, you will have to go into the Mach3 or Mach folder and find them.  As someone else mentioned,   It might be easier to do a full install to bring them back.  That would not be my solution, but if all else fails then . . .
