Many thanks!

I have been getting similar messages and had no idea how to solve.

Back to cutting arcs and making chips.

General Mach Discussion / H-P Compaq Celeron Optimizing
« on: June 26, 2006, 11:21:00 AM »
I have had trouble optimizing a H-P aka Compaq Celeron (512 mb 3.46 ghz) machine that is running Windows Home XP Home Edition.  My experience could save someone countless hours of frustration - been there, done that.

Problem reared its head when I tried to "Set Computer to Standard PC NOT ACPI PC" as outlined in the Optimization Guide.  After following the the outline to the letter (more times than you want to know), my computer would not reboot.  It took me many unsuccessful attempts before I realized that this change was causing my problem. Each time I had to reboot and restore my computer in order to get it to run.  Last time out I followed the optimization guide with the exception of this section and did not have any more problems when booting up.

You may want to consider this before attempting to change your system

Brian, ran a driver test and here is what I recorded (Mach3 not running)

Interrupt Used 00
Pulse per sec. 23517

APIC Present - Green Box

CPU Speed - 3067

APIC Timing - 5642

Shortest time 36,157 (I think)

Longest time 48, 700

Line variations basically flat with occ. 1/8" spike

With Mach3 Running:

Interrupt Used 00

Pulse per sec. 25812

APIC Present - Green Box

CPU Speed - 3067

APIC Timing - 5642

Shortest time 32,950

Longest time 32,950

No activity Line

No other programs are running when I am running Mach3.

Thanks for looking

General Mach Discussion / Re: Missing Steps
« on: June 22, 2006, 09:48:16 AM »
Art, Brian, Someone!!!

I have read every post about missing steps in the "Y" axis and applied all of the fixes i could understand.  When configuring motors the "Y" AXIS runs fine (no skips).  I have changed motors from one drive to other to see if it was the motor - no difference.  Changed out cables - no help.

I have shut velocity and acceleration down to minimums or set to maximums and still get skips.  Changing to Sherline mode did not help.

I even pulled the lead screw our of the "Y" axis to determine if it was screwed up or blocked.  Looks okay.  Like I said - "Y" works fine when in the motor tuning mode.

I have determined in MIDI when I type in same distances for "X" and "Y" ex: G0x4 y4 - Y4 "Y" does not skip steps.  If I type in different  distances - ex: G0x4 y2 - "y" skips steps.  It isn't compensating for the differences.  The machine coordinates are wrong for "y" after the exercise.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: Wizard Problem - Cut Arc
« on: June 08, 2006, 08:02:10 AM »
Brian, the following code was written by the Cut Arc Wizard for a simple arc.  The problem I was having when making multiple cuts was (apparently) being caused by the Wizards including G40.1 in the mill specs.  Other Wizards have not caused this to happen.

As I mentioned before, once I realized what was happening, I edited the code to change G40.1 to G40 and everything was okay.

(Program Posted for Aluminum )
G0 G49 G40.1 G17
G80 G50 G90 G98
G20 (Inch)

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: Wizard Problem - Cut Arc
« on: June 07, 2006, 08:39:56 PM »
Love it when I solve my own problems ( I learn so much!).  Looked at the code and noticed G40.1 (could not find that defined anywhere), but figured since G40 had to do with cutter compensation that was a good place to start.  Edited the code and changed G40.1 to G40.  No more wedding cakes!!

My next question is, how is G40.1 creeping into my program?

BTW  Wizards is (are??) (when they are working correctly) a really great addition to Mach3.  Keep up the good programming.  Having tab keys advance from parameter to parameter would be a great input addition.  And, enabling back spacing to delete errant entries would be welcome.

Thanks for your past responses and assistance.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Wizard Problem - Cut Arc
« on: June 07, 2006, 07:47:16 PM »
It could be operator error or a mad machine, but I am having a problem with the  Cut Arc Wizard when making multiple cuts (.2 cuts in .375 thick aluminum).  Each time the wizard returns to the cut it appears to offset (by the width of the cutter??)  After three or four cuts the sides appear to be wedding cake tiered.  I have employed other wizards  without encountering similar problems.

Is this a known (or new) bug.  I have tried to use workarounds without success.  Running the program on a Taig machine.

Let me know if you want to see the file.

Thanks

LazyCam (Beta) / Re: LazyCam won't load
« on: May 30, 2006, 11:02:06 AM »
Thanks for the quick response.  Yes, I am running Mach Version D1.90.040.  I downloaded the glut32 file provided by afn09556 and was able to get into LazyCam.  I am still confused by afn09556's last response that said there was a newer version of Mach3D1.90.040 because my version was downloaded only yesterday.

Anyway, thanks for the response.  Looking forward to future revisions of LazyCam and Mach3.

BobsShop will now go back to making some chips.

LazyCam (Beta) / LazyCam won't load
« on: May 30, 2006, 12:35:10 AM »
???  I have downloaded and installed Mach3 ver 1.9.  I can see LC in the files menu, but nothing happens when I click on it.  Version 1.9 was installed and I rebooted my computer after installation.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks
