General Mach Discussion / Coolant not working after upgrade
« on: November 26, 2006, 04:49:06 PM »
This is a spin-off of another thread.
I'm having problems getting my coolant to work again. The timeline:
Last Saturday everything worked well using V1.9.084. Monday I updated to V 2.012. The coolant no longer turns on with m08, CRTL-F or clicking on the coolant button on screen. The only time it will come on is related to the RESET button. Now it goes on only when in RESET; changing enable to actvie low turns coolant on unless in RESET. THe coolant command changes nothing except the related led which lights up correctly.
I'm using the supplied 1024 screen set.
Can anyone give me an idea about what could be going on? I've switched ports, settings, active hi/low etc. I'm at my wits end

General Mach Discussion / single block problems
« on: November 18, 2006, 10:36:32 PM »
 ???
I've been having problems when running a program, putting it into single block near the end of a contour, it has taken off. It did it with mach 2, now I'm running mach 3 v1.9.081.
Heres the program:

O0001(11-18)

(T1 =  .25 ENDMILL 2FL H1 , D1 )

N1
T1 M06 ( TOOL - 1  .25 ENDMILL 2FL   )
M01 (PUT T1 IN SPINDLE)
M08 G04 P1000
G54 G0 G90 X0. Y0. S6000 M03
(WATCH OFFSET ON OFF)
G43 H1 Z.1
G1 Z-.1 F8.
G41 D1 X-.011 Y-.0064
X.0127 Y-.0475
G3 X.19 Y0. I.0823 J.0475
X-.19 I-.19 J0.
X.19 I.19 J0.
X.0127 Y.0475 I-.095 J0.
G1 X-.011 Y.0064
G40 X0. Y0.
Z-.2
G41 D1 X-.011 Y-.0064
X.0127 Y-.0475
G3 X.19 Y0. I.0823 J.0475
X-.19 I-.19 J0.
X.19 I.19 J0. X.0127 Y.0475 I-.095 J0. **
G1 X-.011 Y.0064
G40 X0. Y0.
G0 Z.1 M09
M05
M30

It took off in the line ending with **
I had run it twice in single block mode and it worked fine. When I cut metal, it took off, see picture. After that happened, I was unable to recreate the problem.
What can be happening here? I've scrapped several parts by this happening. It's always an arc at the end of a contour when in single block. I like to put it into single block at the end of a contour when running for the first time to make sure of the retract, etc.

General Mach Discussion / setting up coolant pins
« on: September 21, 2006, 09:25:32 PM »
I'm having trouble setting up Mach 3(V 1.9.070) for my mist coolant. I'm using a Hobby CNC board and CNC4PC AC relay card. If I connect from the 5VDC pad on the Hobby CNC board it will work. I get pin 16 to switch on & off & get 4.4 volts there. My CNC4PC DC card for my spindle works at that voltage. I've tried different pins, switching active high/low and can't get it to work. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

General Mach Discussion / single block
« on: November 10, 2005, 01:43:03 PM »
Hi,
I have a problem with single block not working or doing wierd stuff. Last nite I clicked single block, let it come down near part & looked away at screen for a bit. It started cutting when I was not ready for it and kept on going, block after block. I clicked single block off then on and it stopped at the end of the next block as it should. Then later I clicked it near the end of a toolpath in preparation to check the next move and it took off, at least AWAY from the part. It did this during an arc out of a contour. I restarted and it worked as it should. I had this problem a lot with Mach 2 and now it's doing it with Mach 3(v 1.83.012 I think).
Any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

General Mach Discussion / motor tuning?
« on: October 31, 2005, 08:22:25 PM »
I'm trying to tune my motors on my micro-mill. I have servos, and the one on X sometimes starts to move them stops. I have to set acceleration to an incredibly low value (.5 or so) to get it to run somewhat reliably. I tried to set the step pulse width to something other than 0 but it won't save it Have latest version(1.83.012) as of this writing. Other axes work well as is & I can rapid all. Just have problems feeding, usually near end of program!

Thanks
Mark ???
