Hi All
What happened to the UK Mach3 workshop. Has it died?

I think I may have been down this route.
Have you tried to ticking the dir low active box for each motor in the ports and pins menu.
If its any consolation I spent nearly 2 weeks getting my system to run.

Thanks for the replies.
I think the 2.5D comment puts it in perspective.
Mine is a hobby scenario so I dont really need anything cleverer.
Thanks again

I take it you mean go backwards to a 2D drawing.
I think I am right in saying you can export a 3D DXF file.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 with ITX motherboards

Thanks Hood for the info.
So having tickled my interest, where, when, how big and how much? I am really a sucker for gadgets.
Also in a roundabout way you have answered my question on the suitability of the itx boards (I think).

I saw the pico boards, but they dont have a parallel connector, so how do you connect it?

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 with ITX motherboards

Hi
After my initial struggle getting my motors running and then running smoothly, I discovered my laptop was pretty useless at running Mach3 and that a desktop was the way to go.
Well the space available for my milling activities is pretty small and using a huge desktop box, monitor, keyboard and mouse is very restrictive.
The idea of using an itx based motherboard appears to be the way forward.
The Intel D201GLY 1.3GHz with 1GB of Ram seems to be a good start.
Has anyone tried this board (or similar) and have they had any success.

My Charge pump is seperate so it is very easy to isolate.
But I do have an Estop in the form of a Big Red Button.
I am sure my challenges are still to come i.e. getting from solids to cutting metal.
Fortunately I am an old hand at Autocad (20+ years) and I can use Solidworks (mostly) I havent addressed the cam part yet so I am sure some computer wizardry will confound me.
So on to round 3.

Thanks to everyone.
I wired it up with my charge pump, but that doesnt work, so my decision is wire charge pump out, to keep it simple.
This way I can get things going.
What are the general thoughts on charge pumps? Are they really necessary?
