Dan,

Here is what I got so far on the wizard you have requested. I am still finishing up on the code. Let me know what you think.

Wes

Hi Wes,

Looks great! Exactly what I was meaning. Just a minor display note - the workpiece image is not symmetrical about the centre line.

Hi Rich,

Use the simple threading wizard for internal threads all the time. Define the start and end diameters correspondingly and it will do internal or external.

Hi Wes,

OK, so where do I get the latest screen set and wizards from? If you can do the wizard I would be glad to test it.

Since you're working on this, can you please start a topic for suggestions and new wizards development?

Hi Wes, Rich,

Thank you for your work on the lathe wizards. Much appreciated!

Would you please direct me where do I download the additional wizards from and how do I install them? Are they tied to the above particular screen set?

And if I may ask for something (don't know if it's the right place), I would like to have a wizard that does concave OD arc. It is the opposite of the wizard called "OD Arc 3".

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Scott,

Sorry to miss this thread. I would be very much interested in adding more useful wizards to lathe. Sorry I don't know what exactly you're talking about... what is the "Complex Turning Wizard" and what is the "Quick Threads" one?

Where do I get them?

The lathe is starting to shape up really nice. I like it a lot!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Jogging to work piece
« on: November 23, 2010, 07:02:50 AM »
Hi Rick,

Telling Mach the tool diameter won't help. It is only used for G41/G42 cutter compensation.

You need to define the tool centreline regarding the work piece. If you touch off the work piece and zero the axis, the centreline would be away from the work piece edge by the tool radius. So instead of zeroing it enter in the DRO the cutter radius. Account for the side you're approaching the work piece from to decide if the offset is positive or negative.

FAQs / Re: Losing steps or something?

I got a chance to look at the outputs of the parallel port after untangling the redundant ports and pins situation that the Smoothstepper was warning me about.  The Direction signal is now a steady state.

I would have never guessed this could be causing the problem. Thanks for the update, Don.
