Simpson,

Can't see how the aluminum parts are heavier than cast iron ??? Are they that much bigger in size (almost 3 times) or what?

I will be building an entire new machine frame also from aluminum and making a complete new head from aluminum.

Got to find a new name for your machine... you can't call it X2 any more I guess ;)

Nice job Simpson!

Looks like you lost a fair amount of travel on your Z with these slides ;)

Are the mounting plates and the bearing plate made of aluminum??? Or is just the photo?

Art,

I am glad you're having fun. The clock looks real good.

Is it a weight hanging down there that triggers the clock?

Still looks complicated to me calculating all the gear ratios required ;)

Thanks for showing,

Daniel

General Mach Discussion / Re: Power Supply upgrade 24-48 G540 the Bad Pins?
« on: November 07, 2009, 01:13:03 AM »
Willy,

When you switched the power supplies over, I assume you did it with the power off...? Can't think of anything else from what you've described that could have been wrong.

The G540 is designed to take up to 50V, and that is about the voltage I am using it at (48V or something).

Dan,
Don't remember how. Post the easy way!
RICH

Ha..ha..., don't remember it myself :D Did it only once and it was a few years ago. Will mess around with Microsoft Word a bit and try to recall what was the way to do it.

Rich,

If I may, can you make the contents linked to the corresponding pages? Do you know how to do this?

Thanks,

Any section in particular that your interested in more so than others?
Anything that you would like to see in the manual?

Rich,

Your document seems to cover pretty much everything one could think of. Great job!

The "How to Pick Up a Thread" section sounds very interesting in particular to me.

Art,

I finished the job I was doing on my lathe and I am willing to help if I can with the threading tests now. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you guys. Don't want to switch to PP though... so anything you think I can test with the SS, let me know. You said averaging was affecting the SS as well, so may be I should try it...?

Video P*r*o*b*i*n*g / Re: moving axis with captured pictures or video

What you're asking for is kind of close loop movement - continuously tracking a point and moving the device accordingly. As far as I understand, this is not possible with Mach3...
