dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Re: Dspmc Encoders not in sync with mach 3
« on: October 02, 2014, 01:32:17 PM »
As you are aware the 7761 is an obsolete model since 2010 and no plugin update is done since then.  so for compatibility you should use the mach3 version that was released sometime back in mid 2010.   Our latest DSPMC versions are 7762 S and M, and are actively supported for both mach3 and mach4.

If you have internet access on your mach3 machine, we can do remote login and try to see what could be wrong.

Hello Masta,

I'm afraid that I don't quite understand your question. Are you looking to upgrade your current system to use Mach3 and the DSPMC Ethernet Motion Controller? or are you currently using the DSPMC in your system?

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: Charge pump

HiCON motion controller has internal watch dog that monitors the Ethernet connection with mach3/mach4, and disables the digital outputs and steppers if connection is lost.

hope this helps.

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Re: Strange problem with Z-axis and spindle
« on: August 19, 2014, 07:53:38 PM »
Hello,

You can try a quick test. Disable the z axis by setting the control output source of the Z axis to undefined in the plugin config. Open the DSPMC Status window which can be accessed from the top menu of the Mach3 main window ("Plugin Control" -> "DSPMC Status"). Then do the motion process that seems to be causing the error and see if the encoder channel for Z moves at all. This should be able to tell us if there is a problem with the encoder wiring (e.g catching noise form the spindle).

Hello,

You can check the analog output data with a multimeter. It should be between +/-10V. When the DSPMC is not outputting any thing, you could get values in millivolts which is fine.

By the way, when you move the Z axis, are you doing any kind of move aside from G00 or G01?

Hello,

I just downloaded your XML profile and tested with G0 and G1 commands on the Z axis (up and down) and it works fine with or without the spindle off. Is there something specific that needs to be done to trigger the error?

Is there any more info that you have on the problem? Do you have the latest firrmware and plugin updates available from our website?

Hello Ray,

Yes, the USB MPG update to the DSPMC plugin was applied not that far in the past. So a firmware and plugin update should allow you to use a USB MPG plugin.

Again, please follow the "readme.txt" in the DSPMC files zip folder because there is a small chance that you could brick your unit while improperly upgrading the FPGA.

Hello eurohoppel,

The MPG is connected directly to the Encoder Input Channels on the DSPMC because MPG and jog motion are performed inside the controller. Mach only issues commands to start the jog motion and displays feedback data. Having the jog motion and MPG motion generated inside the DSPMC improves the performance significantly and makes the motion more precise and responsive.

It is still possible to use a USB MPG with the DSPMC. You would just need to go to the System tab of the plugin config then look for a checkbox labelled as "Enable USB MPG". While checked, this option will disable the our MPG logic and prevent it from overriding the USB MPG plugin.

Hello,

We made a plugin fix that can be downloaded from here:

http://www.vitalsystem.com/portal/motion/dspmc/DSPMC_StepGen.zip

NOTE: If upgrading from a version 7 or older firmware, please go over the "readme.txt" in the zip folder.

Aside from the plugin fix, the pid tuning for the axes must be tightened. This can be done in the Axis config tab in the Mach3 DSPMC plugin. Please use the graph as a guide.

Hope this helps,

pls send your mach3 xml profile to support at vitalsystem dot com.  will try to replicate and solve the issue.
