Hello Jay,

Although the HiCON Integra cannot be used for +/-10V axis control, we do have another motion controller that can.

Here is a link to the DSPMC webpage. It can drive +/-10V (analog), step-dir (digital), and EtherCAT drives. EtherCAT is still in the works though.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Here's a fix for the "blank" config window. This problem is usually caused by using Mach3 and our plugin on a 64-bit OS like Windows 7 and up.

Are you using windows XP or 7? If windows 7, is it 32 or 64-bit. I ask this because it seems that you’re seeing a problem that is present with using our Mach3 plugin with windows 7 64-bit.

Here’s what you have to do:
1.   Open Windows Command Prompt as an administrator
       -   Open the windows start menu and search “Command Prompt”
       -   Right click on Command Prompt and select “Run as Administrator”
       -   If you’re using XP, just open command prompt
2.   Type “cd c:\mach3” and hit enter
3.   Type “regsvr32 ntgraph.ocx” and hit enter
4.   A popup should display saying that the process was successful
5.   You should be good to go.

And yes, aside from that, try first downloading the latest plugin and firmware versions from the DSPMC webpage.

If you still see the connection issues from pinging the device from the command prompt, check to see if there are any other networks present on your PC such as wifi, other network cards, etc. and verify that the DSPMC doesn't have the same IP address as any other device on the network. We just use the "192.168.0.50" address for simplicity, but it is possible that you already have a device with this address on the network which causes conflicts with the connectivity?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Re: Estop Button Pressed Error

Hello,

What plugin, firmware, and FPGA version are you using?

Here are some thoughts to get the issue fixed.

- Download the latest Firmware from this link: http://www.vitalsystem.com/portal/motion/dspmc/DSPMC_StepGen.zip
- Check if your firmware version is the latest.
- Check if your FPGA is the latest (because firmware version 6.45 is quite old)
- Check if your Mach3 plugin is the latest.

The firmware and FPGA version can be verified from the VSI Device Manager application, while the current plugin version can be verified from the DSPMC Status Window. Also, we used to get issues when people would copy the plugin file into the "C:\Mach3" folder, and not the "C:\Mach3\plugins" folder, you may want to take a look at that as well.

Also, there are some useful details that were indicated in the earlier posts of this thread, such as if your digitize and estop signals were mapped to the same digital input.

Although this may be negligible, there is an off-chance that this could be caused by the firmware config that we had added to our motion controllers sometime in the middle of last year. Upgrading a very old firmware to the very latest one may produce "unpredictable" effects as far as the on-board configuration goes. This, of course, shouldn't be a cause for concern if the gap in the firmware versions isn't so large. See page 10 of this user manual:
http://www.vitalsystem.com/portal/motion/VSI_Device_Manager_Manual.pdf

What you want to do is look over the "Firmware pins" in the firmware configuration and make sure that each setting is set to "-1" with an unchecked active low. Then click the "Download" button if you make any changes.

Hope this helps, and if you still see issues, let me know what plugin, firmware, and FPGA version you're using.

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: Setting up Teco 7300CV VFD
« on: February 10, 2016, 03:05:16 PM »
VFD spindle speed is controlled by 0-10v analog signal from HiCON.  Serial comms will not work.

You can also make an axis as spindle that allows to use step/dir type drives and motors for spindle.  you can then orient the spindle as well for ATC applications.

Hello Dave,

Here are some thoughts on your issues:

Blank config screen:
- Did you upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8? Or did you upgrade from a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit version?

DSPMC not connecting:
- 8.14 is an outdated firmware version, I believe the latest version is 9.01 which should be available on the website (and don't forget to use the latest plugin that comes with it because we made a change for the DSPMC and the plugin to reject connections when incompatible firmware and plugin versions try to connect).
- Can the DSPMC be pinged from the command prompt? This can be tested by opening the windows command prompt and with the command "ping <dspmc ipAddress" (Ex. ping 192.168.0.50).

You can also tie a pull up resister (5K 1/4W) between 24V and the Digital Input on J14 where you connected your signal wire.  so normally the input LED will be lit.  when your signal goes to ground, the LED will be off. In the mach config you select active low.  The hardware can then see the transition.  Hope this helps.

The $350 price is not just the screen.  There is also a software component that has to be activated in the controller, which control all the sequence of Plasma/THC.  For our forum guests, we are currently offering $150 discount on M4ARCPRO to bring the price down to $200.  Just mention promo code ARCForum2016 in the order notes when you place the order and we will apply this discount.

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: HiCON Integra with Geckodrive G320X's

hi mrcole,

Looks like these drives can control DC servo motor with encoder feedback.  From integra, all you would need is to tie in the step and direction signals.  There is also RESERR signal on G320 that indicates drive error condition, you can tie that to one of the digital inputs on integra as DriveError signal, to disarm the system if triggered.

hello fozzyber,

these files are pretty old.  you should upgrade the firmware and plugin to the latest available on the web.  Look for mach3 files in this page

www.vsys.co/integra

the new files should fix this issue.
