Hello Gary,

Unfortunately, this forum page is dedicated for those machines that use the DSPMC motion controller.

I would recommend posting this issue on the SmoothStepper forum page, or contact the original vendor of your machine for technical support.

Good luck

Hello Garry,

Are you using the pn7762 DSPMC motion controller in your mill?

Glad to hear your system is working well now.  Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.  If you can post a video of the machine operation and plasma cutting, that will be awesome and highly appreciated.

Best regards,
Rufi

Hello Joao,

We added a new section in the ArcPro user guide for using the "Test Mode" feature of the Proma THC150 to verify Up/DOWN motion on Z.

http://www.vitalsystem.com/portal/cnc/motion/ArcProPlasmaGuide.pdf

We performed this test multiple times to make sure we did not miss any step, and it looks very good. During the test, the UP/DOWN signals are triggered at a regular interval by the Proma device and the Z motion follows accordingly. I think this will help you remove the hurdles and should get you going quickly.

We have added some helpful suggestions in the trouble-shooting section of the plasma system manual.  Some of the problems you mentioned are now addressed in that section.  Please review those and hopefully your system will be ok.

Hello Joao,

I would recommend taking a look at the LEDs on the THC150 and check to see that the UP/DOWN signals look correct. If it doesn't look correct, then you may have to take a look at the settings on the THC150 itself. You should be able to modify the voltage threshold that controls the height to be maintained.

About how fast the THC moves, this can be regulated with the THC speed slider on the screen.

And remember to keep your ESTOP button handy while testing since you could potentially break something during the setup process. And make sure that the limit signals are also set up, so that the machine will disarm before crashing on the ends of the axis. This is usually the normal safety protocol that is followed during almost all installations.

Hello Joao,

Could you try jogging the Z axis and see if that moves? If jogging doesn't work, and the profile is used as is, then there may be some problems with your wiring. Check the "StepGen" under the HiCON status window, and if that is incrementing but not moving the Z axis, then it is probably some wiring issue.

Also, if your PC has an internet connection, I would also perform a remote log in to see if any configuration is necessary.

Hello,

The 7721 and 7711 breakout boards ought to be similar since they just bring out the DB25 pin connections on screw terminals. Our engineer verified that the connections on J2 (for analog I/O) and J6/J7 (encoder channels) should be similar.

What may not be compatible however is if you have just the plain 7535 breakout board connected on J4/J5. This is because the plain "7535" breakout board is not made for the 7762, in which case you would need to purchase a "7535P" or "7535N" board for use with the 77762. If you already have the "7535P" or "7535N", then that should already be compatible.

Aside from that, you'll need to update your Mach3 plugin as the 7762 uses a more updated plugin version. And because you did not purchase the 7762 directly from us, you may need to update the firmware on that.

Hello,

On the existing system, what breakout boards are being used with the 7761 DSPMC? This will help us determine the compatibility.

If you're not certain about the breakout boards, you can take pictures and post them over here so we can take a look.

Depending on what parts are currently present on your machine, you may need to perform some rewiring by consulting the pin layouts for the 7762 DSPMC.

The software configuration will also need reviewing since the 7762 Mach3 plugin has been updated several times.

Let me know what parts are present, and I'll let you know what can be done.

Hello,

Have you updated to the latest Mach4 build, HiCON plugin, and firmware?

You can verify this by checking the HiCON status window. The plugin and firmware versions are listed on the upper left of the screen.

If motor 0 is disabled, is it also unmapped in the Axis Config?
