HiCON Motion Controller / Re: Connecting MPG's
« on: February 22, 2017, 11:12:08 AM »
Hello Steve,

With our HiCON Integra, the easiest way to connect an MPG to the system is to use the MPG06 that we provide on our website because it's pretty much plug and play.

Otherwise, you'll need to hook up your MPG's encoder input to either J11 for a differential encoder, or J6 for single ended. Aside from that, if your MPG has selector switches, you may connect those to the digital inputs.

For configuring the MPG settings for Mach4, see the Mach4 Integration manual available on the HiCON Integra webpage.

As far as I know there are some installations using both plugins enabled.  so you should be fine.

ARM LED can be mapped in Mach4 to any digital output using the ENABLE signal.

For Error and CPU LED there is configuration setting in the vsi Device Manager software.  Please consult the manual http://www.vitalsystem.com/portal/motion/VSI_Device_Manager_Manual.pdf

You can also configure key-lock switch input using this software.

thanks

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: Charge pump
« on: January 17, 2017, 01:58:06 PM »
Hello,

When the HiCON loses connection with Mach because Mach was shutdown or crashed, it will enter an error condition which triggers an automatic disarm and turn off all digital outputs and relay outputs.  So you really don't need a separate charge pump signal.

In case you need an output freely toggle all the time, with Mach4 you can implement the charge pump functionality via a PLC script that continuously pulses one of the Digital Outputs.

If you are interested in paid service, we can do a remote login into your system and try to diagnose the fault.  Please reply to support _at_ vitalsystem.com and we can provide you a quote.  Since you are in a rush, I think this will get you going quickly.

Hello,

I would try using the default profile that I provided, and try configuring stuff from there. Because for one thing, I don't know which plugin and firmware versions Machmotion used for this system. They could probably give you the plugin and firmware versions that they used to make their screen, and it will probably work from there.

Hello,

Looks like we were able to make sure via remote login that your DSPMC was enabling fine using our default Mach3 DSPMC profile.

Hello Cattle,

You can verify that the signals aren't active by the LED states on the ArcPro screen.

Manually triggering the digitize signal depends on your setup. You can hook up a switch temporarily to emulate the signal. You may also allow the probe head to make contact with some surface, but we say manual just in case a wiring/connection issue prevents the digitize signal from being read, and causes the torch to dig into the table.

Normally, your limit sensors are supposed to prevent this, but there are some people who try doing this without the limits set up.

Your Z may not be moving because your Anti-dive is set too high. There is a step-by-step process listed on page 18 of the ArcPro user manual.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response. It was the holiday season.

Did some testing and saw the bug. I've made an upload for a Mach4 plugin fix, and a slight fix to the ArcPro screen.

Please let me know if there are any issues.

HiCON Motion Controller / Re: Hicon, mach 4 and digital touch probe.
« on: November 28, 2016, 11:37:39 AM »
Hello,

Are you using the HiCON Integra?

Try updating your plugin and firmware files to the latest ones. And make sure to use the latest Mach4 build available from their website.
http://www.vitalsystem.com/portal/motion/hicon/hicon_integra/downloads/

Here's a short snippet of GCode that you can use to test if the probing is working. And if you can, use a very slow feedrate and try triggering the digitize signal before the probe even touches the table. And remember to keep the EStop button handy.

G0X0Y0Z10
G31 Z-5 F5

Also, make sure that you have the input from the probe mapped to the "Digitize" signal in Mach4. There are other inputs such as "Probe1", "Probe2" and "Probe3", but they're used with different probe commands: G31.1, G31.2, G31.3.

The probe setup should just be standard for Mach4. That is, configure the digitize signal, etc. Aside from that, just wire the digitize signal to the correct input on the HiCON Integra. You may also verify that the digitize signal is correctly configured by triggering the probe manually (even while disarmed), and checking the state in the "Diagnostic" display on the Mach4 screen.
