A build your own controller?

My ideal controller would be able to do all that Linuxcnc does with a built in screen designer and perhaps a more helpful way to setup the machine requirements

General Mach Discussion / Re: IF you wanted to UPGRADE to MACH4 ??

Sez it all really. Mach4 is not a finished product and I do not want to help bug fix software I paid for.

I am so fed up with seeing "Scripter compile error" and the spindle not turning on so the tool crashes into the work.
I tried all the suggested fixes and it still happens intermittantly.

It also happened the first time on my mill the other day when using the built in probing routines.
So I've had enough and keeping busy moving to Linuxcnc

Hi, Have a look at the post below for some ideas on how to control the Orac toolchanger

Mach3-Settings page (ALT6) on the left there is the button Override Limits.

Hope this helps.

Finished Plugins for Download / Re: A new Huanyang VFD plugin
« on: April 13, 2013, 12:28:20 PM »
Hi Everyone, I have found the solution to my problem and so post it here just in case someone else has similar.

When I first got interested in a plugin for the Huanyang vfd I first downloaded the other plugin written by Matty Zee. His plugin manual instructs to "Firstly, open Mach3 ‘Ports & Pins’ config dialog. On the ‘Spindle Setup’ ensure the ‘Disable Spindle Relays’ checkbox is unchecked. This is required to enable the plugin to control the spindle."

When realising that his plugin would not work for my setup I then used this new plugin but didn't realise that I needed to have the ‘Disable Spindle Relays’ checkbox, checked.

Once I had checked the box the spindle motor now works as expected with m03 and m04 doing the foward and reverse and m05 stopping the motor.

Hope this helps.

Hi Royaumedeole, I have just fitted a newly purchase Huanyang vfd with a new spindle motor and a big thank you for making the Mach3 plugin to control these vfd's.

I have the vfd communicating with Mach3, If I command an M03 the motor starts spinning and requesting various S words changes the speed of the motor of which is displayed in the speed DRO.

However there is no response to an M05 commmand, I have to click the e-stop to stop the motor. If I command an M03 or M04 the spindle of the motor only runs clockwise.

Is there a setting I have missed somewhere?

Plugin was downloaded today and is ver 1.5.1

I have gone back to 057 on lathe and 056 on mill.

Is it possible to have download access to those 2 versions?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Lathe Feedrate Problem

Hi Dan, Thanks again, very helpful. I set the spindle spinup back to 5sec and the feedrate problem went away.

Cheers
John

Hi Dan, I did at some point reduce my spindle spinup time, that could be it. I'll give that a go tomorrow and see if it helps.

As for the version 066 I have yet to find any problems with it even with threading and I do a lot. It also seems to have more zoom on the tool path display which is really helpful. I've read the problems occur with faster computers, mine is only 1.2gHz.
