General Mach Discussion / Re: Geckp 540 and Solid State Relay
« on: July 17, 2010, 07:57:54 AM »
Hi David,

I believe it should be wired like this diagram as this is how I have mine wired. The leads in the diagram that go to the breakout board (your G540) are the "TO COMPUTER" leads in the picture. The + goes to output 5 or 6 on the G540 and the other goes to ground of the parallel port as well.

The credit of this diagram goes to Tom Benedict's relay tutorial, which I HIGHLY suggest you read before continuing.

Hope this helps, but ALWAYS be careful with any wiring!

Hi Geaorge,

Nice job and to make the DRO's look nicer, uncheck the "Boxed DRO's and Graphics" option in the "Config ->General Config =screen control area.

I saw a conversation that started over on the ZONE about this and found it very interesting.

Looking forward to hearing more about this-

Could be anti virus but your movement problem sounds more like loose Dir wire or bad drive.

This has happened to me as well as I had one single strand touching another contact on my connector. Resoldered it and all was good. It's a pain, but you should check your contacts/soldering for sure.

Agreed, it sounds like either the part moved or you're losing steps (position).

Since you said the first one was perfect, I'm thinking the part moved.
