Show"N"Tell ( What you have made with your CNC machine.) / First wood sign on my CNC Router
« on: May 20, 2012, 06:55:08 PM »
Thought I'd share a project that I "finally" finished up today. It's a welcome sign using maple and a maple leaf pattern that I used Minwax Teak oil to finish. This is the first wood sign that I've actually cut on the "almost" completed router, and I've learned quite a bit from just this one job. Just wish I had more time, but the older I get, the smarter I get, and I'm taking a lot of notes as I go along to learn from.
It's 3/4" X 11-1/2'' X 15". It ended up warping just after it was cut out from the material blank, but only about 3/32nds across the width. Not too bad, but actually straightened out a bit over time (about 2 months) before I actually finished with the oil. I guess it relaxed a bit? Moisture content changed?
A few pics and video for you.

Thanks,
