Here's a sign I made for my wife for Christmas this year. She's always loved this saying as she's a firm believer in it  , and who am I to turn down a kiss (or 3) from the person who has stood by me through thick and thin.

It's made from Mahogany, and the polished copper brackets are simple 1/2" pipe brackets for copper piping. I painted the VCarved letters in 14kt gold based paint, but wasn't sure if black would have been better. I'm glad I did it this way as she just loves it as she says it's more of a classy piece this way.

Thanks for looking, and Happy Holidays to all-
Dave

General Mach Discussion / Re: How do you Resume Cutting?
« on: December 18, 2012, 04:59:36 AM »
Thank you Bob but I dont have feedhold on my Mach3 screen. In any case this will not help me because my question was how to resume my cut after I hit the E-stop.

My cnc is new so I'm always on guard for any strange noises and today during a trial cut I heard a strange sound from the spindle and immediately I pressed the E-Stop. Since it was a trial cut I did not mind to scrap it but I would like to know how you resume your cut after an E-Stop (assuming that you dont move the tool)

See the problem is when you hit an E-stop or turn off the machine, the motors move a bit, so you can't just start it right back up from where you are because you will not be in the same exact position.

This is why you must follow the procedure that Terry (BR549)  has described in the post before mine.

It's absolutely awesome, but that poor little odd toolholder looks like the little awkward red-headed step-child that no-one likes, lol!!

Sorry, probably had a bit too much to drink today.....  ;D

FAQs / Re: help needed usb adaptor cable
« on: December 15, 2012, 08:13:58 PM »
Yes, those do not work, instead, since you have no parallel port, you'll need a motion controller such as "smooth stepper" or "k-flop".

Of course, you could always buy an older pc with a parallel port built into the motherboard to get things going.  ;)

Tangent Corner / Re: USB pendant.

No, but I actually tried the ShuttleRU_LCD but it had lots of lag, unlike the Shuttle Pro 2 that I use. I had to send it back and lost $30 as I wanted to send it back to Russia with tracking so there was no excuse getting my money back. Just didn't trust him.

The seller/creator kept telling me there would be a fix but it never happened so back it went. I see he makes comment of "I am not going to create that version of the pendant. This article is for information only."  on the page of his site:

http://cncpendant.ru/en/shuttlerulcd-pendant.html

I guess he never did figure it out and started making something new.
