This is my first actual V Carve project and it was done on my little Taig mill for my wife as another last minute gift.

The size is 2.000 X 6.000 at a .500 thick and is made from mahogany. I first machined it, then stained it with rosewood gel stain, then before it was completely dry, I lightly sprayed it with satin black paint. Then, just before that was completely dry, I used a toothbrush to remove and blend the black paint and stain to give it that "antiquish" look. After everything was dry, I just sanded the top surface to level everything off and used tung oil to finish it. It's not as glossy as the pic shows..

My wife always loved this saying and someday I hope to be able to build a nice size gantry router system to be able to make a larger version to hang somewhere.

Not nearly as nice as some of the work here but thought you might like to see it anyway-

Happy Holidays to all of you-

Dave

Thanks for sharing Vince, but I'm guessing if you don't have these in a housing (like you do for the Z axis), the magnet would pickup any magnetic dust making these a problem, correct?

Did you only fit these on the Z in the housing? If not, I'd love to see how you fit them for the X and Y  :)

Love it, and the gang tooling is very slick.

Thanks for sharing-  :)

Tangent Corner / Re: Basic PC ? - Desktop Icons

So just out of curiousity, why have seperate webpage desktop icons? Especially now that tabs are available in browsers, it's so easy to just launch your browser and have all the webpages open, that you regularly use, all in one launch.

Again, just curious- :P

The only pictures that show up are called favicons at the top of each tab in IE7 and in the favorites. The webmaster has to install those and are a special size so I'm not sure if this is the same as what you're thinking of.

Rich, I will say this, if there is poop to be found in VCarve pro, I have yet to find it. The only thing I have found is true happiness and a pure and stable environment.

I'm sure someone could find something to rip apart about it as you can with anything if you look deep enough but chances are, I'm not that sharp enough to find it. I have had no issues at all with this program, not one, and it is everything and more than what people are saying about it. I get work done so much faster and it allows me to have more time with the family since creating jobs has never been easier-  ;)
