Ok, an update on the enclosure. I have it just about finished but there are quite a few things I still want/need to do yet.

- upper lighting

-cutting doors into the clear side walls for those longer jobs that I may have someday

- possible upper venting if need be

- Sealing for coolant

- Tool/wrench holders and such

I added an E-Stop to the left rear which is real close to my lathe. It'll be within arms reach just in case I hear anything "crunchy" going on in there lol!

I'm loving the full open front as I need to be able to "get around" in there for various things.

I also moved the spindle to the right rear which is a nice feature and moved the air pump for the nozzle into the cabinet below.

The gas lifts for the door are perfect and I have Mcmaster to thank for that as their directions for figuring what you need are excellent.

Here are a few pics for you:

Thanks, fellas, I appreciate the kind words.  :)

Peter, I look forward to seeing how you do it as I'm pretty much an electronics nimrod. This will really add the "cool factor" to any setup  8)

Thanks,
Dave

These are great, my friend, but, speaking of being sappy, I must be the same way but perhaps a little worse? These are great for anytime of the year -  ;)

Thanks,
Dave

Ok so my noname controller died as I figured it would as it was used and cheap.... but it got me started into putting together the whole cnc thing so it was worth it.  :D

So I bought the G540 and wired it up with a little help from "Crevicereamer" over at the "Zone".

I added 2 of the 270 oz. Keling KL23H276-28-4B steppers and the Keling KL-300-48 48V power supply and she runs like a champ so far. Like a bonehead, I completely forgot to wire in my fuseholder which I will have to do soon-

A couple of pics for you of the front of the controller sporting the logo I drew up which I thought was rather appropriate. ;) And also a quick shot of the back as well.

I'm also including a couple of shots of the newly wired home switches and notice how I did the Z switch on an adjustable stainless rod. This will be very handy.

Thanks,
Dave

That's perfect! That is exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for that picture, I'm sure Lowes or Home Depot has something like that -  ;D

Thanks again,
Dave

Very cool video as always but it's so dark in your area, how the hell do you see what you're doing?  :D  Is that for the benefit of making a better video?

Question about transfering your chuck while the part is mounted. On the sherline 4th axis table, do you use that threaded adapter that came with the sherline? Is there any runout difference?

One more question, I'm getting close to finishing my enclosure, what lights are you using? They look light 12V lighting, do they get hot (I don't want that) ? I was going to cut a rectangular hole and just put a flourescent light from above but I think I'd rather have two "aimable" lights in each front corner with a ball joint to be able to position the lighting wherever I'd want. Possibly like a small headboard or wall sconses? I was also thinking a strip of track lighting but that might be a bit dangerous!  :D

Thanks for sharing -  :)

Bruce,

Just a note, as mentioned above by Hood, the optimization steps are VERY important with some PCs to get them to run right at all.
