General Mach Discussion / Re: Problem Testing motors off machine.
« on: March 27, 2009, 05:01:02 AM »
I also had this happen recently with my 4th axis setup. When I had the cable from the motor directly wired to the drive via screw terminals, it worked flawlessly. When I set up a 6 pin DIN connector, I somehow got my wiring sloppy enough to have just enough solder touching 2 contacts (or a bad plug as I could not see any contact of solder anywhere) and this made the motor turn opposite directions when it should have only been going in one.

I cut the plug off and wired it straight to the drive again, and tada !, success again. Now to do a cleaner job soldering next time - ;D

Pretty nifty, Vince, did you dust this on a grinder to get it within a tenth?

Thanks,

General Mach Discussion / Re: trying to add a vacuum table

Hi Josh,

As shown in one of the links, a used Thompson pump will run about $80 but maybe if you scour ebay you could find one cheaper -  8)

Well, then I think it's time to do your homework and figure out how much you want to spend. I will say that most of the guys building their own systems use the Thomas Compressor Vacuum Pumps and build their own reservoir tanks(sp?) use PVC or an air tank.

Got any pics of your table that you bought?

Forgive me scott as I'm an idiot whan it comes to code.

Homing limits dialog box: I have:

X: 5.5

Y: 3.5

Z: -.500

And I have the G28 button code setup for:

code" G28"

Where do I apply the G28.1 code?

Thanks!
