General Mach Discussion / Re: DRO Doesnt Match Real World

innsoft, the Taig originally has 1/2"-20 leadscrews on all axis and the steps per inch should be 8000 for those motors- :)

It's funny you mentioned the eagle one product as it's basically the same thing as what's called "Never Dull" and it comes in a metal can and is a cotton wading filled with the same polish you're refering to. I believe it's the original too.

I have no influence here but I will certainly pass it on for you, that's for sure -  ;)

There's a good chance the powers that be will be seeing this at some point though  :)

I'm guessing they meant the Shuttle Express (smaller and less features) or the Shuttle Pro 2.

Yes, I believe Mach does need it to be the Shuttle Pro 2 Version.

If yours does not say Shuttle Pro 2 on it, then it's the original version. I'm guessing it's silver in color?

Hmmm, is this a Shuttle Pro 2 or just the original Shuttle Pro?

Tangent Corner / Guitar Fans?
« on: April 01, 2009, 11:27:03 AM »
Ok, so I see we have a few guitar fans here and I thought I'd start a thread to talk,,, well,,,, about guitars ;D

As always, pics are great so show us what ya got!

I've played for quite a long time until I hit a "brick wall" and pretty much just quite playing. I never really got good enough to "be" something as I just never disciplined myself to practice correctly. I'd just "jam" with every Tom, Dick, and Harry, and then even recorded a lot of my own stuff .

I never really completely got away from it because I loved building them and collecting them as well. Hell, now I'm making parts for them so it's always been a part of me. I'm a huge Jackson/Charvel fan but have quite a few others as I'm basically a guitar "whore". At least that's what my wife calls me....  :D

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks very much for the long (and entertaining!) process rundown Sam-  ;)

I'm basically doing the same exact thing as you except I do not heat up my parts so that's an interesting tip. It's so true that wetsanding prior to buffing is imperitive to keeping the detailed contours which I had trouble with in the beginning.

I actually do some egraving before buffing but I must admit, using a toothpick and cottom swabs can be time consuming and tedious.

I also use wood blocks to hold my parts, I remember my first aluminum "missile" was a pickup ring for a guitar and the inside cutout caught the wheel and turned that thing into a parallelogram against the wall. Needless to say I won't make that mistake twice  ;D

I would like to get one of these pedestal buffers that you can adjust the speed as I think that would be handy. I'm still a long way from being a pro but I'm getting good enough to be dangerous (as read above).

Thanks,
Dave

The Pink color is only protection cover

Sounds like you're not entirely happy with the color pink? I'm still stuck in the 80's (guitarwise!) and I love the guitars from that era as you can see in my picture.....lol!

Thanks for sharing, it looks great- 8)

By the way, I'm thinking I should start a guitar thread since we have a few fans here  ;D
