General Mach Discussion / Re: Im new to the Mach3 program

Just wanted to clarify something for you Jaime, when you're in the motor tuning operation, the up and down arrows are used for all axis for testing (like the video says), but only in the motor tuning operation.

This changes when you get back to the regular mach 3 screen.

As Ian pointed out:

Z axis = page up and down keys.

X axis = left and right arrow buttons.

Y axis = up and down arrow buttons.

Just trying to help,
Dave

I believe you have to hold the shift key to Rapid?

When using the dropboxes and configuring the plugin, I think there's a choice for jog+ and jog-, but you'll have to look as I'm not in front of my machine at the moment.

I think I may run some older toolpaths to see if the problem shows up again.
I may even run this bird path again to see if it does it again.

Yes, I can definitely see that, thanks for the pics.

I would absolutely run a toolpath/job that was successful in the past, as that will at least narrow down the issue.

Which toothpathing style are you using in VCarve?

Are you using the actual VCarve toolpath or are you selecting the "profile" toolpath option?

Pics would be a huge help in this case.

Yep, can be frustrating for sure when it's all new. Heck I've been doing this for "fun" for years and I'm still lost most of the time. What does help for me is to watch videos as it seems to inject the info right into my simple brain much better than manuals can. It's probably because I don't comprehend very well ( duh).

Have you checked out the videos at all? I know most here prefer Klaus' Mach 3 screen designer, which if you'd like to see the videos, go here http://www.kd-dietz.com/klausphp/index_eng.html# and click projects/mach 3 screen designer/videos and that should help at least a little bit.

I personally have gotten used to screen 4, and all of it's quirks, and have stayed with it for some strange reason, lol! Go here: http://www.machsupport.com/videos/ to click on the last video (screen4) and even though it's old, it's still very helpful.

In any case, just take a moment and calm down a bit and try to have fun with it. If you find you still can't get into it, then yes, maybe it is time to go full turn key as everyone is different, and not everyone enjoys tinkering and getting nowhere, like I do.  ;D

Hope that helps a bit,
Dave

So to bump this up what happened to the video's ??

Last I saw on the Yahoo group that the person who had the video was looking for someone that could host very large files for download.

Maybe ask over there?

I don't use Rhino, but I wanted to take a moment and thank you for taking the time to contribute to the community here  :)

Thanks,

I would be sure that you re-format the USB memory stick in FAT32, and then try again.

Sounds like it is corrupt.
