General Mach Discussion / Re: Windows & and smooth stepper missing steps
« on: September 14, 2011, 05:25:40 PM »
Thanks Hood,
No every thing is as it should be, just offset itself.
It seem a few people have been having problems with W7. Tere must be a problem with W7 doing something in the background.

I can't afford to have anymore problems - I will go back to XP and see if that works.

General Mach Discussion / Windows & and smooth stepper missing steps

Having problems with missed steps??
I ran 3D file and it got half way thru the parallel finishing cut, when it decided to cut 8mm above the surface in mid air!
worked fine until then.
It is a new computer with Windows 7 installed running thru a Smooth Stepper from Mach3. I have know idea what is causing this problem.
Buffer overrun in smooth stepper? windows 7 running something in the background? I just dont know.
Im very frustrated as having spent days trying to fix this.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Upgrade?
« on: April 07, 2011, 05:37:23 PM »
Hi,
I have been running Mach Version R2.63 for quite a while now.
Is there any advantage to upgrade to the latest lockdown version R3.043.022?
I have always had problems getting the CV optimised.
Has there been any improvements in this area with the latest lockdown version?

Regards,
Bruce

I have read through the Change log and there does seem to be some changes to the CV function incorporated into R3.xx.
I think I will give it a go and see if there is any improvement.
Just a quick question - it a long time since my last upgrade- what files do I need to save in order to keep my settings?

Thanks,

Bruce

Thanks for the reply,
I am running R2.63.  I seem to be able to get reasonable compromise between rounding and speed/acceleration when cutting 2D. But in a 3D file i am getting rounding.
eg: if I machine a horizontal face followed by a up vertical face then followed by another horizontal face (an upwards step), it cuts cleanly into the bottom internal corner squarely but rounds the top external corner.

Hi,
I am about to upgrade to the latest lock down version.

Has there been any improvements to the CV settings in the new version?

I was only trying to help!

Yes it will be the first thing I would try next time.  One of the good things about Mach 3 is it is very flexible and does heaps of stuff that may not be useful to some users. Trying to sift through all the settings and understanding what is relevant is challenging sometimes.
