General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle Speed
« on: July 06, 2015, 11:57:29 PM »

Thanks Don. The problem is I have a Sound Logic BOB and it dosn't have a spindle output connection. I thought I could send the pwm signal through the Aaxis step connector since I don't use Aaxis. I have mach3 running the spindle using M3 and shutting down with M5 but no pmw. I enabled the Spindle in Ports & Pins>Motor Outputs, step pin #16 ,dir 0 and Aaxis step pin #16 dir 0.  The stuff in Ports & Pins>Spindle Setup>Motor Contron Use Spindle and  pwm checked, Freq=100  min=10. Now I have a controller (U-MC-2100-WA) that accepts a pwm signal. How do I set the pwm output pin. The docs talk
about everything but how to set the pin number. Then I assume that I put that number in the Port & Pins-Motor Outputs
-"step pin #"  box for A axis(unused).  A axis step on the BOB  will be connected to the pwm input pin of the controller. Ben

The laser is a 1 watt IR and focusable. It will burn wood up to 1.25" inches away, not enough power for metal. I use it to
mainly burn graphics in wood. I set the height by hand at .750", focus it and set Z axis to 0. Dark wood burns easly but light
wood like birch needs some carbon rubbed on it. I do my graphics in Inkscape with line width set to .003" and save as DXF
file type. In Cambam I have a style for the laser setting the clearence at .001", cut depth at -.001" and feed at 4"/min. With
only .002" up and down motion the laser goes on and off and stays in focus. Cambam makes the gcode file. Ben

One major problem was the laser was wired with the case as +5V with the red wire and GND to the black. That ment that
the laser case has to be insulated from the mill. I took it all apart and tried to change this but couldn't because it's hardwired inside the laser itself. Good luck, Ben

I have a simular 1 watt laser. I use a dedicated version of Mach3 just for the laser because the laser is installed in the spindel and I don't want it turning. I send a hi or low signal to the laser from the dir pin of  Z axis. In the Gcode I have on =Z -.001 and off as Z.001. I works great. Ben

Does anyone have a schematic for a 110VDC  20A speed controller that is compatable with Mach3 or where I can buy one for under $50.  Now I'm using a Nordictrack  treadmill controller and don't know how to connect it to Mach3. Ben

WOW!  Nice catch, that fixed it. Good job and thanks for the help.

The pin LED says that Mach knows that pin 15 has a signal but doesn't realize that it's a probe, so it's not lighting the digitizing LED.  So I think there is something
I've missed in the setup.

General Mach Discussion / Probe not responding
« on: April 27, 2012, 05:51:38 PM »
I'm trying to get my probe to work again. In port and pins I have Index disabled and Probe enabled, assigned to port 1 pin 15 and active low.
When I touch it to the touch plate the led on the BOB flashes each time and on the settings page the "Port 1 Pins current
State" changes also, but the program won't respond.  At one time this all worked (last year) so I'm checking the Gcode last.
Have I missed a setting somewhere?  Should the Index or Digitize LED on the settings page light up? What's your thoughts?
Thanks, Ben

Turn 3.043.022 -- When I try to load the VB scripter it won't display. Where should I start looking?
